Maybe you shouldn't do anything (provided your tank is set up properly). Check out this post from the varanid king and see if it applies to you....

And this one....

id id check it out .. very informative although it is of no help at all to any of my questions ..
Also wouldn't monitors actually eat there own eggs ..??
Tx Jeff for the help but it is more a discussion on the biology and not the husbandry of a possible pregnat monitor..

That's exactly what it discusses. It says the monitors, particularily small ones, are only gravid for a few hours. So if your monitor hasn't layed yet, its NOT gravid. Get it?

Dom,
If you sav is indeed gravid and showing as much as you say, you are much closer than 3 weeks off from nesting (assuming everything she's looking for is met).
I would suggest you don't do a thing different thatn you have been. That gives you a "base line" type of idea so you can look back and reflect on what when right/wrong for the next time around.
I fear you're still thinking in a snake state of mind in that she should stop feeding, and whatever else. Give her what she wants, and let her tell you what that is.
Best wishes, I really do hope this is the begining of more Sav breeding in Canada :D
lol I have learned one thing in the past week on monitors ... EVERYTHING ON THEM IS VAGUE!
Nobody really knows anything and all that is really know is that all monitors have diferent requirements and we don't know what they are .. just give tehm options lol
Man all the research in hte past week has just mixed me up even more..
Tx again both of you
Dom
