veg oil? help please. Thanks

My baby went through his first shed with me 5 days ago and the top of his head, his nose and one eye cap didn't come off. I have upped his humidity and used wet paper towel. Heck i have held him and rubbed his head for half hour at a time with the towel ( he loves his head rubbed) and its not loosening up. I was told to put a little pure vegatable oil on him and that it won't hurt his eyes. Is this true or not?
Also i have to digital therms in his tank one reads about 5 degrees higher then other and the humidity (one isn't digtal) reads average 15% diffrence. How the heck am i to know which is right so i know all is well in his home?If the digital combo is right he is Average 79 on warm end 73 on the cool side and 58% humidity. But the other temp reads average 85 on warm 74 on cool and 43 % humidity.

Neither of your temps are correct. 90-92F warm end, 80F cool end. And the cage temps should be done and calibrated LONG before a live snake ever goes into the cage.

No problem , temps will be fixed by morning. As far as this shed what else can i do? I just put some wet towels in his favorite hide and he doesn't like it at all.

I wouldn't put anything wet in there at all until you get the temps up or you'll have a sick snake.

Well temps are where they need to be, 90 on the hot end 78 on the cool and 56% humidity. Now that this is up to par can any one help with my issue of the shedding and the way my temps read diffrent (which i should go by)?
