Hey, someone I know has this lizard that he was told was a collared - but it isn't. He actually bought it with a collared, and it killed the collared.

It's about a foot long now, and does not have any nuchal crest, or spikes down his back, but he does have spikes down his tail...

Does anyone know what it is?

Well, it certainly doesn't look like any collared lizard I've ever seen either. It's hard to see in the picture, so could you let us know if the tail tail long and thin or wide and flat as it appears to be in the picture (though the shadows could be giving a false impression). Also, does it have and markings on the belly, and what colour? Some lizards have very unique belly and side markings to help ID them.

Looks like some kind of Agama to me.

Yeah looks like a relative to an armadillo lizard. I used to own one but I traded him for a Tokay

the cordylids don't have long skinny toes like that, generally... looks more like a kind of Swift or another Agama of some sort to me...

I think it's some sort of Agama as well. Swifts have pretty long skinny tails.
