Have you ever done something herp related, innocent task or whatever, that didn't quite turn out the way you wanted or thought it would?

This could be a very interesting thread.

Have you ever fed snake sheds to superworms (zoophobas)? Some time back I read that they love to eat the skin, so I've tried it. Usually they eat it in a matter of hours.
Last week I decided to give a milksnake skin to the younger superworms, about half grown, 1 inch or so in length. They probably didn't know what they were supposed to do with it.... about 12 hours later when I looked in the drawer, I found they'd all piled into the skin! About 2000 small supers writhing inside a snake skin. Interesting sight.

I would have taken pictures but it was a bit too gross, even for me. :(

I tried to feed one of my T's king worms well they just ended up burrying in the dirt. A few weeks later I looked at my T and some beetles were eating it. Maybe it was a coinsidence but......

Wow that's f'd up, Tim, I mean miT.
superworm filled shed made for a nice visual too!
The only thing I can think of right now is, when I first built screen enclosures for my chameleons, I built rubbermaids right into the bottom with damp playground sand for egglaying in them. While building the enclosure I made sure there was no gaps anywhere big enough for crickets to escape, but the thought of the crickets laying 1000's of eggs in the moist sand never even crossed my mind. I soon had a house full of pinhead crickets! What a nightmare! And I couldn't just vapona them or anything because I have lots of cricket-eating creatures in the house that would ingest the vapona'd crickets and that wouldn't be good. So everyone: please learn from my mistake! LOL!

Bet you wouldn't have had that much luck breeding crickets if you'd have tried :)

That reminds me of the time I tried breeding waxworms. I had about 3 dozen moths, mostly female. They laid eggs which I lovingly tended and hatched. Several thousand waxworms create a lot of heat, so I punched a few extra TINY holes into the maragine tubs they were in. I didn't know they could chew soft plastic if they had the chance, and they had no trouble chewing the holes bigger. The majority of them escaped the tubs before I found out, but I wasn't worried ... after all, there's no food, so what harm could they possibly do?
That's how I found out they can chew wood, fabric (like the sofa), wallpaper and even drywall. They escaped into the walls, but I did find a few bodies in the carpet. All summer long they pupated inside the walls, moths emerged off and on, they even survived over the winter. They survived for almost 4 years, breeding and re-appearing the next summer, no matter what I did to trap them. The chameleons thought it was great though, the moths would find their way into the cages and the chams zapped them like candy.

O.H. (Original Hilde),
That's insane, you have mch more patience than I, I would have moved out long before the 4th summer. That makes me feel a little better about my pinhead experience. LOL Thanks.
I've got a feeling you have a hidden stash of these "Have you ever _____?" stories that you're just itchin' to tell. Well, it just so happens I'm itchin' to hear them, so keep em comin'!
Chris, you gotta have at least one story that fits in this thread. You're holding out on us, come on man! : )
