Ok, we have settled on the fact that housing two snakes in the sam vivarium is not a good thing.....
So here's my new idea how about a 8 foot long by 4 foot tall and 2 foot wide with a glss seperator in the middle? This would make each area a 4x4x2 area for each snake that would aprear like it one vivarium. would this be ok? We're talking a Redtail in one and a tree Boa in the other side. Whats your thoughts???
Thanks! Mark

Also each side would have it's own climate. Is there any danger of them trying to strike eachother through the glass?
yes there is a risk. Perhaps you can buy a dark glass or tinted glass. Looking at the viv straight on it wouldn't make a difference, but it could be all the difference to the stress levels of the snakes.
The combination sounds good to me. It could be very attractive. Can i suggest you get a big log or something that gives the illusion that it travels through the divider glass, but is actually cut and attached on both sides of it. Just like one of those plastic sharks for aquariums, or the garfields for car windows. I think that would really add to the impression that it is all one enclosure.
Keep us posted.

Great idea, and the idea with the darkend glass sounds good as well. Thanks for the idea's I was also doing some reasearch on how th make fake rocks like you see in a zoo that would also look like they go through the glass.
There is a post on this forum outlining how somebody has done that before. Search this forum and you should find it. If i recall correctly, it had pretty good instructions, but didn't seem to easy.

They won't strike at each other through the glass. Heck, the wouldn't strike at each other without the glass there.
Kudos to you for separating your snakes. Great idea. By 4 feet tall might be excessive. Your Boas would appreciate more floor space than height. Especially when they get BIG. And they will get big.

I realize 4 feet tall is excessive, the Vivarium is going to be floor to ceiling with storage space below much like a nice floor to ceiling bookcase. I'd rather keep it at 8 foot long but may go 10 so each side would be 5 foot long. It'st good to hear they wont strike at eachother through the glass. Thanks for the input!
