View Full Version : Keeping Temp Down and Thermostats
I have been having trouble keeping my ball's temps under 95. I am using a UTH. I need to order a thermostat, but until then what can I do to keep it down. Right now I have a folded towel on it. And what is a good inexpensive thermostat. I have looked at the Helix systems. Would it be better just to go ahead and invest my money in one?
I would not run a UTH without a thermostat of some sort. Bad planning on your behalf for sure. Now that I got the PSA out of the way, I would recommend the Helix DBS-1000, it's a great proportional thermostat for the price and easy as all hell to use.
Where would be the best place to order it from?
If you're in Georgia, there are googles of places in the States that would happily accept your money in exchange for a Helix DBS-1000; "beanfarm" for one, do a simple search on any search engine, you'll find others...

A helix will cost you about $135. If you want to save some money a Helix is not neccesary. You can get a thermostat from Big Apple for less than $30 or you can get a rheostat for less than $20. I have used both for several years and they work great. Here is a link..
