Hey all, I have been thinking of getting a pair or trio of darts and read that they are fed everyday. Now, I'm 20, I odn't want to be home everyday haha, I would still like 2 or 3 nights to go somewhere so I was wondering if I get frogs, how long will I be able to go away for without them getting too hungry. I have a mister for my uroplatus who like high humidity so I will now have to worry about misting, and my cresteds get misted by my sister when I am away each night. I don't want to limit myself to a home body so how many days will they be able to go without food? Or can I leave food in the tank with them? I have read that they can over eat which is why you shouldn't feed more then they will take at a feeding, so any ideas? Thanks. I have left my geckos for 2 or 3 nights with no problems.

well darts eat everyday. Juvies need to eat everyday. mature darts can eat everyother day, but i feel bad if i do not feed them everyday too. over feeding is not really a problem, except for exemptions. It is also alright to leave extra food in the tank, so the day you are gone they have something to eat. Some people have been creative and put a fruit fly cultures in the tank, timed correctly, so that the days you are gone flies will catch and there will be food for the frogs.

wow i havent ever herd of the fruit fly coltures in the tank before, thats a good idea. I wouldent worie about them getting over fed, its not that big of a deal if you skip a day but make shure there is atleast a lil bit of food for them, they enjoy their food!!LOL

Thanks guys, I will probably use the fruit fly in the tank method and add sringtails to the vivarium so they can also be eaten.

i have seen peopel rig up cultures beside treh tanks with tubing into the tanks. a jar in teh cage is kinda ugly, but effective if your gone for a while.

"overfeeding" is kind of a must as there will be many many flies that dont get eaten. think of how many hiding spots there are in a planted cage....frogs are good but flies life span is short...
