today i went to the staten island zoo and saw their reticulated python. i asked a woman that works there how big it was and how much it weighs, and she said it was about 17 feet and 200 pounds. it definitely did not look this big to me, and when they fed it, they only fed it three or four large rats. but she works there so i took her word for it. does anyone have any information on its size?
thanks

I have no idea, pal.
But i'm curious about wich zoo in the world has, today, the longest snake out there. Guinness doesn't list anything on that.
The biggest snake is called baby and a reptile house in the states has her, she is a burm. The second is Fluffy and she is owned by bob clark, well I think fluffy is second.

26feet 5inches, 403 pounds!!! Thats a huge chunk of snake!!
I don't care wut anyone says there is NO way that Baby is 26ft long. No shot. The weight i can believe because that thing is obese, but no way is it 26ft. The Staten island Zoo is awsome. I was there when i was like 10, but not since. If i am remember correctly Staten Island Zoo has the largest reptile exhibit on the east coast.

Not the largest reptile collection...... They have the largest crotalid collection...... I believe they have more rattlesnakes on display than any zoo in the country..... I have done work there a few years back..... That retic is pretty big but I doubt it is 17 feet.....

If this link works, it should take you to a pic page of Memphis zoo animals. Seems like their retic is 28 feet.
Then again, they have man-eating giraffes, so... lol

Yeah even that one from the Memphis zoo doesn't look like its got the makings of a 28' snake. The rock its on is definately quite big.....but why do i have my doubts that a 28'er would be able to climb and perfectly sit on a rock like that to bask??? I would imagine at that size climbing would be a real trick, you'd expect to see it on the floor. Just my .02.
with all that size comes the strength and muscular ability to move it.
I was at the staten Island Zoo like 6 or 8 months ago. Their retic is probably about 17 ft and 200 lbs. I have a crumy pic of it in the pc here somewhere. I will agree that they do have a very nice and extensive reptile exibit. Just across from that big retic we're talking about is the most stunning yellow eyelash viper I have ever laid eyse on. I like their yellow anaconda too.
Well anyway it is big but probably not the biggest.
