View Full Version : gecko won't eat!
Hi, I got a gecko last week, it's been now 9 days and he is still not eating! First I tought of stress because of transporation, or because he is with my female so maybe he is stressed. They mate, I saw them! So he is in good health! His tail is still pretty big, but I just want to know anything to stimulate him a bit!
He was at the Montreal Herp show with me all the week-end, so maybe that stressed him... But he was not manipulated.. anyway any tips are appricated!!

Couple of things.
1) Quarentine... I really hope your new gecko isn't sick cause if he is you just doubled your vet bill. All new animals should be kept seperate for at the very least a few weeks and ideally several months.
2) He probably was stressed from the move, that's normal and it takes a few days to settle in and feel comfortable. Being dropped into another gecko's environment is also stressful especially if he's smaller than she is.
3) Most of my makes eat only sparingly during breeding season and many of them only eat once a week or so. What are you feeding him and what did he used to eat before? If you aren't offering the same prey items he might not know they're food at first :)
4) The usual questions about size, temp and setup... What all do you have and how's it set up?

Yea I agree with Slannesh, especially on the food variety. I know one of my females I bought a little while ago only ate kingworms, but now shes getting into crickets finally after like a month.
