Im so fustrated............

last year i did fine tell the end of the season.

1st the eggs got moldy so i lowered the humidity and fixed that.

2ed the eggs caved in so i raised the humidity.......dident work

This is my set up:
- a "real" incubator (not home made)
- temp = 83f
- substrait = vermiculite
- a container full of water for humidity

the eggs have been layed in moist vermiculite , when i found them they were perfectly round (oval ), white and hard.

Its just killin me!!! im wasting this years breeding season, it worked last year (Im using a diff male this year)

You can never really be certain that all the eggs are fertile if you witness copulation. The health of both snakes is a big factor and for a lack of better terms, your male could be "shooting blanks".

I think you may need to double check your humidity again, also the male may be the problem. Does you incubator have a fan? Because even with proper temp/humidity the fan will dry out the eggs. Also is there enough air flow? I know my incubator has several holes in the bottom (4 I think) and a few holes in the plexyglass lid (2 I believe. If they are not all open, you may not have enough fresh air.

Ya drying outs a big issue you have to check moisture constantly. I was sick for 2 weeks and I had 6 eggs due. Well I left the top off the container the last time I was in there and forgot about that. So when I finally got well and remembered to check the eggs I lost 3 clutches :-/

Are your females getting enough calcium?
