those who have been bite and those that are going to get bite. Well I finally joined the ladder this evening. Funny, I always thought it was goin to be my Emmerald that would get me, turns out my new Amel Corn liked me more then the pinkie I just dropped in her tank. I know its not much, but a bite is a bite. So there, I'm in the club!

He he... welcome to the club. Last night I was bit by my male Banana Cal King. This is the LAST snake of mine that I expected to be nailed by.
I had a gig at this smokey blues bar and came home to watch SNL. I grabbed a few bins of snakes and sat down to watch. There I am holding this guy for a few minutes and I feel him pecking at me. It was as if he wasn't sure if he should eat me or not. It must have been the smokey smell or something, because I hadn't handled a mouse all day and I hadn't been musked on by another snake.... strange.:)

Hehe, does being bit by a Rosy count? ;)
Well, Ive been bitten to many to count .. although I have only been consticted twice .. by a 7 foot coastal carpet (grabed my palm instead of the rat .. It was kool and a rainbow boa .. wich has just got in his mind that anything that moves is food (he constricted already about 5 ppl)...
But i did get a new special bite this weekend - one in the face .. I am quite proud - yeah right .. by my new "tamed" jungle carpet python..
I hope all of you guys are gonna survive!
Dom
funny this thread is up, as i was tagged by my yellow head retic this morning, she had finished up her shed and she wrecked her tank, so i took her out to clean up, and put her in the rubbermaid, and when i opened up the top toi take her out after i was finished she snapped me right on the forearm...cranky little thing she was this morning, ah well, live and learn
My burm was enough about a month ago, i decided not to take Dom up on his offer of letting his "tame" JCP taste me...
I have yet to bitten by a snake and am proud! :] Mind you I've only been in snakes for about two years but hey, I owned a couple crazy snakes (house snakes *cough cough* - a bite is bite!) :D

I've only been bitten once at home all the rest at a pet store or other peoples snakes. The one at home was a feeding error.

i don't even keep snakes and I was hit by my friends amazon tree boa. YA little demon, but i was attempting to free handle the aggressive thing and i had it by the head and than he managed to slip an inche forward while my friend was showing me a pict in his carpet python book and than got hit. it was only a nip though.
but i have also been bitten by a garter snake when i was out catching them when i was about 13.
But i have been bitten by a crested gecko, 2 leopard geckos, 2 times by my chameleon and once by my friends chamelon. I have also been bitten by a dog when i was little. and yes i am not a big fan of small dogs and i like large snakes.

Funny i'm not a fan of being bit but if i am i don't care much i've never been hurt from a bite infact sometimes i don't even notice it until there is either a row of bleeding dots or two alligned dots or unless i feel the snake move really fast all of a sudden for no reason at all its weird. But its cool showing the battle scars and making up this huge and cool story to go along with it. So enjoy the bites for as long as possible just make sure no ones around to witness them so that way they can't say your lying lol anyways may the bites still continue. Have fun. Miller

I too have been bitten more times than I can count, thats why I'm scared to keep hots.
Especially by babies. I have a rat snake that practicly weened itself on my hand. It would bite at me as I walked by the tank he was in, bite me when I picked him up, handle well, then turn around and take one last shot before I could get my hand out of the tank after putting him down.
Now he is the biggest baby and one of my faves to handle.
The Florida King I have is a whole'nother story.
Silas left 2 teeth in me, mainly cause when he bit me i was so surprised i yanked my hand back.
I'm also in the latter. Stuck my hand into my bp enclosure, and didn't notice my 200g male sitting on the rock with his head high as can be. He hit and retrieted before I had a chance to pull away. IT HURTS!!! Blood too. Oh well, my fault.
jeez, i recently caught a wild rat snake and he's a great eater! Both of his pinkies and my hands...

My savanna monitor bit me on the back of the neck a week ago. I was tagged by a pet shop burm about a month ago, right between the eyes, and a full grown black and gold tegu almost ripped my finger off a week before the burm got me. I gotta stop telling people to bite me, I think the animals understand english, lol. Never been tagged by my balls, bci got me once by accident (my fault of course).
lol
Alright Gorelith .. theres something I don't understand, How do you managed to get bitten by a burm between the eyes or even worst, in the back of the neck by a savanah .. lol
That sav and tegu bites must of kill ... there some of the worst bite in my boook if bites!
Take care
Hey guys,
Just be glad your bites didnt end up like this...
http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/756bite.jpg
This is a bite from a neonate Intergrade Copperhead. Only one fang penatrated the tip of my right index finger yet the swelling went down to about the wrist and took up half on the hand! Hurt like hell, belive you me!!!!
Also, I have lost full feeling on the tip of that finger. Its comeing back slowly but may never be 100 percent again.
Just something for everyone who has ever contemplated keeping hots to think about. This is a bite from a baby of one of the renouned low potenacny snake sp yet the results were horribly painfull and lasted a long while(about a week). Hell, they are still lasting if you count the lack of feeling I still have!
Welp, hope ya like the pic!
Peace,
J
Hey Dom, how bad was the coastal bite? and "huge"????:p

They aren't known for being nippy little guys, but boy, when they do they can pack quite a bite for their size! I routinely get tagged by one of mine that will only eat in a wee little cell phone box (SFE - I put my warm, stinking-like-mouse hand in when there is a mouse inside, box only being the size of my hand...lol :p) and it tickles more than getting hit by a 3 or 4 foot boa :p They have very large teeth considering their size! I'd say it counts! :D
I've been bitten more times than I care to try and count...lol :p Nothing ever serious though, hope to keep it that way. Almost took a feeding hit (not an SFE) from a 14 footer a week ago though  That would've busted my wee little arm for sure
Hey DVS ... honestly, I have been bitten by my rock several times and it did not compared to a bite (constricted) by my carpet python ..
Nice long teeth on those guys .. althoug it was over a year ago so i don't quite remember well .. i have once been bitten by a nine foot retic on the hand THROUGH A LEATHER glove and he still make me bleed everywhereand my hand was fairly inflamed .. that was pretty kool although I can not even imagine the pain without the glove..
Although I think nothing beats a varanid bite or even worst a crocodilian bite..
Yeah I'm gonna gree with you on that one Dom, I'd much rather take a hit from a snake that any varanid or crocodilian...lol....even the itty bitty tiny ones :p The jaws on those animals are unreal!
He he he...... I was just wondering what I can expect when my little guy gets bigger. I've tried to see his teeth so far when he yawns but don't see very much of anything right now since he's still so young..... unless there recessed or something?
I hope I don't find out anytime soon, but then again I guess now would be better then later.

I joined that list a long time ago. It's hard not to get bitten when your dealing with Nerodia though.
