I was just watching a television show, not sure of the name, where two individuals were looking for Black Mambas in South Africa. The purpose of their expedition was to extract DNA, via a peice of ventral scales, because there is evidence that the species of Northern and Southern Africa differ. I realize this episode may have been out dated - is there any new information in regards to this? Anyone else hear of this possibility?

I heard that they were trying to create ssp a couple years ago, but I have not heard any updates. Wolfgang would probably know.
