my plants keep dying (money tree)

i dont know why but i had my money tree for over 6 months and now its starting to die, can someone help me on how to care for it... its on toop of my snake's tank and i have 4 of them, they look all brown now

it could be a lot of things ... probably overwatering or too little light ... look up "Ficus care" on google

What sort of lighting are you using? If you have any sort of basking lamp, these are generally not enough on thier own. Put a double-lamp 18 inch flurescent fixture above your tank. These cost around 15 dollars at Walmart and include two cool white lamps. For better plant growth, you could even remove one of the cool whites and replace it with a daylight (6500K color temp) lamp. Many terrarium plants thrive with a setup like this.

just out of curiosity how much do single 18" daylight bulbs cost enar you? here they are REAL hard to find and $10+ each. its cheaper to buy the 18" crappy fixture by globe that comes with one in it ($9). anyway i find that 24" are cheaper in teh long run. daylights are then only in teh $4 range. but the fixtures are a little more.

is a money tree a ficus? i was only aware of that common garden money tree and an acacia. got a latin?

It might also be the heat on top of your aquarium try letting the soil dry out a bit before watering again too. Those money trees i find get root rot very easy.

I keep moss on the top of my pots. When the moss dries out (as in, gets HARD) I water. Place pot under tap, and run room temperature water into it until it is SATURATED. (make sure the pot in question has lots of drainage holes.) I then let it drain in the sink for about 5-10 minutes. Ours grow like weeds.

I would also be concerned about the heat. Simplest solution? Try moving them. Lots of light, but not direct sunlight. Off to the side of a well-lit room works best. Water as above, and if they're not feeling better, repot or cut all the leaves off. That's right, cut them all off. Dont' worry, if it's going to live, it'll start to grow them back within a week.
