Hi Everyone,

I'm wanting to purchase 1 (maybe 2) rosy boas. After doing lots of reading, it appears this is probably the best snake for young kids. I'm thinking I'd like to find a young snake(s) so it can get accustomed to being held early on. I've seen some in local pet store, but my reading recommends purchasing from a breeder-- plus the pet store snakes didn't have the bright stripes/eyes I'm hoping to find.

The El Rosario I saw on a recent thread is beautiful. I love the darker markings.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, I'm a Canadian producer but since you're in the USA one of the best breeders is Jerry Hartley. A couple other notables are Larry Risen and Randy Wright and they run

Ric Blair, Steve Osborne(pro breeders) and Jason Vankirk(rosies racks & more) are a few others that have been around for several years.
Check out the Rosy forum on Kingsnake... you'll get to know the players in there, but its the off season right now.. most Rosy boas are brumating or just out.

Yes it would be a good choice but you would have to be bit sometime before they know that your not going to eat them!
