Albino Calligastors anybody?

Last year I think there was a thread about calligasters(prairie kings) and how there aren't many in Canadian herp collections...
Back in the 80's there seemed to be more around... I always wanted to breed the albino calligasters, so 2 decades later
I now have a pair. (Thanks Grant)
Looks like one is partially striped, so maybe I'll develope a line of striped albino calligasters.
These are a good natured easy care kingsnake, that stays under 4 foot. They both ate the second I tossed a pinky in, despite riding around in my coat pocket for half the day

My pair are definitely under 3'. A friend has the largest L.c.calligaster I've seen at around 5'.

Mark, nice animal... Its funny how some snakes come in and out of favour.
Lots of guys stopped producing campbelli when they got so cheap, but now they seem to be making a come back. I suspect the same applies to these amel prairie kings.
I used to breed albino sonoran gophers.. gorgeous yellow and red.. Now I can't find any breeders of these up here. I shipped all mine down there..LOL

Mark , how common is striping in calligaster? This species has been in herpetoculture for 20 years or more so I doubt its new, but have you seen any striped ones out there??

There are quite a few striped lines, but most stripes are incomplete and really not that pretty (to me). My adult pair was supposed to be het/striped and I only found out they were het/albino after the 2nd year. The first year she layed duds. Anyway, it's kinda cool because I usually get more than 50% albinos from my "normal" pair. This line also is deeper red than some and they hold it. I saw some I sold to a guy and I'm really regretting it--especially since my pair is getting older now.
I guess you need to hold back any w/stripe look and just keep on trying for that perfect one. I'm sure you'll get it.
Down here the nigrita also falls into the category of "once popular, then not, and now popular AGAIN" Goini too I expect.
