Alright, as some of you might know, I have around 20 lizards, which I feed mealworms, superworms veggies and fruit. The crested gecko will only eat crickets, baby food and T-Rex Crested Gecko Diet. The problem is, I am getting sick and tired of feeding crickets, I buy 1 thousand and there dead in 2 weeks.
Is it possible to feed them the Crested Gecko Diet and babyfood without any additional insects for there whole lives?
Thanks

You can just feed them CDG their whole lives. Why are the crix dying?
crickets die if you don't take care of them too. they need to be fed daily and cleaned out. it can be a pain. I buy about a 2 day supply at a time (60). luckily I have a petstore close enough. but sometimes they run out or don't get a shipment in for some reason and then I have to drive a ways to get them. but my cresteds only get crickets a couple times a week except for the babys, they seem to grow better if I give them more crickets. otherwise I wouldn't worry about even getting crickets. but I gotta have them to my glutten veiled anyways so I give them to everybody :)

yea, the diet was designed to eliminate the need for crickets... but I would never take away their crickets! It's fun to watch, and it gives them some excitement. I'm trying some new things to try and keep the crickets alive for longer. If you get things right, they should live for a month or so!

They used to live for a half a year for me, but now there not. But I also changes my cricket set-up b/c I needed the rubbermaid the crix were in :p
Maybe I'll switch back.
Thanks, I still hate crix though :p

You had crickets live to be 6 months old???
How did you manage that? Who sells those Frankenstinian things? ;)

Yah, I don't know how either, they say there live spans are only 6-8 weeks top, but we never had to buy any for months...they just kept livin.
LOl maybe they kept reproducing for six months. I used to have the same probleme, I get crix 100 at a time for my two chams. Although they only last about a week( darn chams eat like pigs) I usually have a very low mortality rate. I find just regular changing of the enclosure paper or cardboard and cleaning with warm water , along with daily water changes ( I use a little bottle cap and the gel water). Is enough to keep them alive for a long time. Even with 1/4 inch crix I had no problemes with this method.
good luck, hope you find out what the probleme is soon.
I find that keeping fresh veggies, peelings in with the crickets really helps. I only lose about 2 out of the 60 and that's probably because they were half dead when I got them.the kid at the petstore a couple days ago must have not felt like counting them out, he probaly gave me a couple hundred when i asked for 60. but probably 30 were dead whithin a couple hours. the ones that lived are getting fat and their keeping me going a few more days than normal. so I hope to get the same kid to help me every time I go. save me a couple bucks and a few trips to the store. and of course those trips to the petstore are usually costly since I never run in and get just what I went for :)
