i have a tiger, hes probably 6 years old now, or older? not sure but i love my little trent reznor. at one point he lived with an american toad and for a long time they got along but the first time i saw my tiger bite the toad out of hunger i seperated them. so nothing but other tigers.

I have 3 tigers. They are some of the most enthusiastic eaters I've ever seen. Anytime they hear me opening the lid to their cage they look up at me like "Lunch?" They're all about 8 or 9 inches, and FAT lookin. Larry, Curly, and Moe

LOL Yea I have one thats 8" and growing she is the "I wanna be hand fed" one LOL (gotta watch her sometimes LOL she likes to jump 3-4" up!!) and the other one is 11", he's pretty lazy LOL waits for prey to come to him, but positions himself in spots that funnel crickets to him. I plan on getting a few more, but I have to wait till I get my 4'x2'x15" terrarium built. Then I will ask around and see if anyone has some they don't want where I live.

out of the three i have had, 2 were nearly a foot long, and one was much smaller, maybe 6 inches. he may have grown since i gave him away, though.

I've seen tiger salamnders and find they're pretty awesome.. what's the general price on them? and how big do they get usually?

I read somewhere 200mm, but I have read they can get 14", so my guess is 200mm is an avg. They like the fogger I hope LOL I only run it every few days for about 5 minutes. That way I know they are staying hydrated well and that they have moist substrate. I spray the tank down still.

I might have to get a few feeder fish for my guys :) see if they like em.

They get a nice size, they seem pretty cool to keep. Did you get your from a petshop or a breeder? How much does a CB one cost?
Thanks,
Davey

I use TREX forrest bedding, and it is coconut fibre, but looks like dirt. Mist it everyday lightly, make sure substrate stays moist, but not wet. I hope they are not in with the lizards LOL

Take a glance at my setup on my website, its a good starter for salamanders. and they need to stay very cool.

what temps should they stay at?
and the coconut fiber sticks to them....think thatd bug em?

Mine have a little dirt on them, I just give them a shower off with a water bottle everyday or two. Their temps should be around 70°F, mine are at 73°F and 75°F or higher should be avoided.

According to this page:
http://www.axolotl.org/tiger_salamander.htm
their temps are between 60-73°F, so quite cool.
When I get my new tank, I am sourcing out a cooling unit for the tank. If you can keep them in the basement it will work well. Large water sources will help keep it a little cooler too.
