Hey

My dad got a parrotlet a long time ago. When he bought it, it has always been agressive towards everyone. How can I gain its trust back? Like where would I start? Anyone know any tricks that has worked for you:)

Thanks,
Meow

Hey Jay,
A good place to start would be short handling sessions where you talk quietly to your bird and stop when it bites this way you are teaching it when he/she behaves well you will giver her/him attention and when he/she bites you stop giving attention thus teaching its bad, never scream or yelp when your bit as the bird will precieve this as a reward and maybe even amausing (their very intelligent and can have quiet the sense of humor) Anyways after a few month or so of short sessions offering treats when he she behaves well and silence when he she bites you should see some improvement. Does he/she know the up command? If not you going to have to teach him/her as well so that handling becomes easier ( up command is used to tell your bird to either come from its perch to your hand or from your hand to a perch).
Other forms off rewards include scratching his/her head offering it's favorite food ( maybe a piece of fruit).
Besides that i'd recomend picking up a few bidtalk magazines they really go in dept and cover alot of behavioral problems and so on.
Always make sure your pressistant though with the rewarding off good behavior and silence at bad behavior ( even putting them back in cage for a bit and trying later)
If I think of more later I'll tell you
Cheers
