Sick gecko!!!! Please HELP

Hi I was wondering what do you guys think the easiest and most humane way of killing (putting down) a sick gecko. I took this gecko from a person that was not treating it right and i'm not sure if it is even CB and it was in with my other geckos for about 2 months now and has not improved one bit it was sold to them as a breeding machine and it's tail is thinner than a pencil. It also recently started to have runny poo's and I think that it is suffering and I also do not want it to make my other geckos sick. Please reply soon.

I would put it in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge.

The fastest way and the one that will make him suffer the least is to break the spine at the neck (But kinda barbaric...). Chopping the head off will cause instant death with no pain. :(

Putting him in the freezer will make him suffer for a while. Go outside naked in winter and you'll see what a gecko in a freezer would endure(not very fun).

I have talked to a friend that works at the vet and other breeders here and all said it was and is in bad shape, but thankfully the rest all still look healthy and I also just saw my male breeding one of my females.

You can get it euthinized (speelling?) at the vets too....lot easier than anything I can think of..

Do not place the gecko in the freezer, it is not a humane death. The gecko forms ice crystals in the bloodstream before it dies. Chopping off the head doesn't work either... because reptiles can live (even if briefly) with diminished blood flow... what you end up with is 2 eyes looking back at you not attached to a body. Don't go there. Let the vet gas her down, it's not as much as you think... less than $20.

That girl should most certainly be in isolation, and no where near your collection. Up her temps to at least 90F, on papertowels and if she can handle it, treat her for parasites. Good luck.

agreed with ydinic. When you get a new animal and do not quaranteen it you are risking your entire colection. Not trying to flame or nuthin, but i would hate to see you loose your whole breeding project over somthing so preventable. I have a minimum quaranteen time of 90 days and if I even suspect their could be somthing wrong with the new animal I double it. Good luck with ur sick gecko :)

Thanks everyone I ended up using a CO2 chamber, it died in less than a minute. The only reason that I did not quaranteen it was because I thought it was just skinny not sick and I was getting it from a friend, the other one that I got from the same person was also really skinny, but she fattened up very qiuckly and even was the first one of my geckos to lay eegs. But I think that everyone else is good, all are runinjg around at night they they normally do. I also feed the sick one her fav food(wax worms ) befor I put her down. thanks again for all the advice.
