Those look great. What kind of plants are you in there, I see ficus, pothos and some ferns. Are there any ohters?

Bromeliads, air plants, and miniature palms. The mini palms do quite well. Be careful with rabbit’s foot ferns – they don’t like a lot of water or light.

you love those humidifiers hey roo. They look like they are working good in your first pic there.
What make and model are they, what store you get them from?
are they cool or warm mist?

thanx

Yeah, I like them. They are Holmes cool mist humidifiers (HM485-U2 ). I have them set for 5 minutes every hour. Check out Amazon - they have a good price on them now - $34.99

Thanks meowmix, not too many keepers plumb humidifiers to their stump-tailed enclosures. I have read in the Necas/Schmidt book on stump-tailed chams that this is an acceptable practice. I have digital gauges in the enclosures and the max humidity level is in the upper 70’s – so that’s right on for this species; could even go a bit higher. I don t have to mist as much either when I use the humidifiers. It’s a little bit more work to keep the PVC and humidifiers clean but it’s worth it. I don’t plumb to the 10g since that holds humidity pretty well on its own.

I have some good pics of my veiled’s humidifier setup which I will post this evening.

Also keep in mind that the heat lights mounted on the sides only come on in the morning for a few hours then go off. This gives the chams a chance to warm up in the morning. It drops down to 63F at night – so I think they appreciate the heat in the morning.

How those eggs going meow?

Mantid oothecae (asian and euro). I also hot glue them to the backs of the enclosures. I have a ton. When they hatch I just dump the nymphs in the tanks with fruit flies. I grow some to adulthood for my veiled. There are also some adult matids from from asia (Loas?) in some of those cups.

Here are some pics of the humidifier setup for my veileds cage. The larger adapter is glued right to the humidifier tank with silicon. There is a smaller adapter that just gets stuck on the end of the main pipe. The whole thing just rest right on the larger adapter. The top pipes have holes drilled on the under side about an inch apart. The key here is the size of the holes you drill. Holes too small will back the mist up while holes too big won’t let mist make it to the outer ends of the pipes. Drill small holes then slower re-drill them with larger bits until the mist comes through the holes evenly. The end caps were glued in with silicon. The one downside to drilling the holes is that condensation will build up and potentially block one of the holes – really not a huge problem. Other keepers have set it up to just direct the mist through the end of a large hole over the center of the cage. That’s fine but my setup distributes mist throughout the entire length of the cage evenly. Hope I made sense.

It will be tricky to setup that humidifier. I can’t really tell where the mist comes out – either way it doesn’t look there is a round port on the top. The warm mist is probably fine; can you control the temp of the mist? Brevs go anywhere from $25-35 US.

thanks alot.. u cannot controll the temp of the mist but once its about 3" away from the machine it already cool so im really not 2 woried.. the mist comes out of the odly shaped white peice at the very back of the machine.. i figure i may just be able to find a rubber sleve that could connect the humidifier and pipe...

thanks alot for the help...

Be careful with the warm mist. I had one melt and distort a 2 inch piece of very thick walled pvc. It also melted the top of the humidifier ruining it. Cool mist is much safer.
