I was surprised to see this thread wasn't started already, so I decided to start it up myself...

Just wondering what everyone got today at the show.
I got a pair of Tangerine Albino Leos off of Topaz, and a pair of Mossy Leaf-tailed Geckos off of Mike and Celeste Large (Live Large). They are all awesome! Thanks Everyone!
It was great to see some old faces today, and meet some new ones too! Hope everyone had a good day and didn't spend to much, or too little! : )

I picked up a couple live rats, a container for them, and a little beardie. Named the beardie Quizzno. I was looking for some used magazines, which is my purchase I always make at the shows, but didn't see any at all. I also didn't see any tarantulas at all.
My friends got a uro. They named it Citron.

I traded some leopard geckos for a awesome male blood python. Thanks guys we love it!!!

02-27-05, 07:35 PM
Jon,
Nope, all the corns were just weein's. I was debating though, but I wanted breedable ones. Besides I spent way too much as it was.

Jamie,
I agree, waaaay to many little kids.

Sleddergirl,
I know it's a non-venomous show, so that's probably why there was no tarantula's. Although I've seen birdeaters there in the past.

Light bulbs, cages, the works.

My g/f got a blue legged painted mantella very sweet frog.

My buddy who went with me got a female Sunburst citrus bearded dragon, and a trangerine tremper albino leo female. beautiful car ride home :P

Yes, I haven't been to a ton of shows, but there were tarantulas at all the ones I have been to........

Due to the City By-Laws, Tarantula's are no longer available at the show.

Humphrey, It was nice meeting you..

Sleddergirl, glad your friends like the Uro. :D

It was also nice meeting the dozens of people that I did today, Nice to finally put faces to names.

I picked up a few things, i'll post pics later :D

Matt,
It was nice to meet you too, it's nice to put a face to the name, but I wish we got a chance to "talk shop" though! Ah well, we'll have to chit chat a bit at the April show, but I'm sure your table will be even more hectic at that show than it was today! You always have a constant crowd around your table, but that's a good thing! (For you!)(Not me!) : ) I didn't even really get a good chance to check all your goods out closely, but from what I saw, it all looked very nice,as always. Hopefully I'll get a better look at it in April. Hopefully see you then.

I was mostly just window shopping (and quite satisfied doing so), I thought about a few critters but probes and feeders are enough excitement for one day.

02-27-05, 09:29 PM
Craig, for sure man. I'll make a point of chatting with you a bit at the next show.

This show was very busy for me and I owe a HUGE amount of thanks to Linds for sticking it out with me the whole show. Also Melly and Heather for lending me a hand throughout the day. I honestly would go insane without you guys!

Sounds good Matt. If you could do me a huge favour that would be awesome. Please read the thread I just posted in general lizard discussions. I asked Grant but you guys were sold out and he said it was the same stuff but smaller bags of the cypress mulch. but now I'm all freaked out cuz it says pine on it. The guy that sold it to me said it was the same too, but I don't know. Any help from you or anyone would be greatly appreciated to ease my mind a bit. Well actually alot. Thanks man.

I got a wicked little crestie from Hilde :D She seems to get more red everytime I look at her, (I say 'her' hopefully) I'm very happy with her...

I think I met more ssnakess.com members this show than any other, and that was great.

Ryan, I really hope you guys made a lot this show, it's such an important cause... and thanks for the t-shirt :D

I think this may actually be the first show ever where I did not purchase anything :(

That said... if I had've made it to the show earlier.... I would have had time to actually have a peek around.

For those who may have been wondering why Understory Enterprises was MIA in the beginning... we managed to get a flat tire outside of London... and did not make it to the show until about 12:30.... and we finally had our table somewhat set-up around 1pm. Apologies for the chaos everyone :D Nonetheless... there were others who were able to fill the void. Phil Ramos (Green Oasis) and Kit Chow sold some incredible frogs.

And a BIG thanks to Hilde..... I owe ya one... :D :D

Though I didn't buy anything... Hilde despite confusion and surprise, graciously held onto the baby tokays that were dropped off for me without her prior knowledge:) Just to remind you... you are not going crazy :D

It was also nice to put some of the faces to the net handles. To Heather and all the others... it was great to meet you. Sorry for the short and hectic conversations... I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

Great show everybody.... I look forward to April's expo.

I bought a few accessories, some feeders and my daughter came away with an adorable dwarf hamster.

Next show in April, planning to get a pair of Cresties and some leo's.

BTW, is it possible to house both of these together?

All around a great show, can't wait for the next one.

Cresties and leos cannot be housed together.
different species = different needs = seperate enclosures :D.

As Jon said, definitley not. One is a rainforest animal and one is a desert animal. If you put a crested gecko in the heat and conditions a leopard gecko needs, you will likely kill the crested gecko... it works the other way around too.

I wish more people stopped and said hi! It seems that lots of people are way too shy...meanwhile I go out of my way to stalk all the members I can find :D

I got a crested gecko off Matt_K....and some various worms for my geckos. They only eat crickets between shows, so I think they look forward to the PCPC Expo more than I do. :D

Only stayed a tiny short time, but it seemed to be another great show.

lol, its hard to know who is on ssnakess, or if you'd even be recognised. Nothing like saying " I'm so and so from ssnakess" and getting a blank look. Sorta scarey to go up to someone and say " I KNOW who you ARE!"

Well I only went to sell the albinos to craig (after a late start!) and got a few mealies and eek! another leo! I would of loved to really wander around the tables and see everything, but it was too tempting. So many different critters and just gorgeous! I had to pull myself away from most tables...

I met a couple of people at the show and i was glad i did! it's cool meeting someone that you've been talking to for a while without meeting them.

At the show i picked up a guyana boa constrictor off of Linds! Very nice looking boa, worth EVERY penny :D and i also grabbed a western hognose from grants table and a sweet amphibian shirt! Was my first expo and i had a blast, already looking forward to the next one!

I am one of the shy ones too. I saw a few faces I recognised, but like Topaz said, I would have felt weird going up to people and saying "Hi I'm HumphreyBoagart! I know you!" LOL!
People already give me enough weird looks as it is without doing stuff like that! I talked to a few people I know from here, and met a few that I knew who they were by their animals, but I wish that I did just introduce myself to ones that I thought I recognized. Next show if anyone recognizes me, please feel free to come introduce yourself to me, I won't think you're weird! : )
Jon, if I did see you there, I don't think I would even recognize you with your Ghandi hair! But I would be able to smell your delicious omlettes from miles away! LOL!
I think the "hello my name is" stickers would be funny, just to see the look on some of the non-members faces when they read our name tags and have no clue what the heck it's suppose to mean!
I'll definately be getting some weird looks with my "Hello my name is HumphreyBoagart" sticker on! LOL!
Sorry to blab on. I'm done...for now.
So everybody introduce themselves to anybody and everybody they recognize from here, Okay?

Craig

02-28-05, 06:10 PM
Actually, next show, I will definatly wear a " hello my name is Topaz" sticker.. would of made it A LOT easier finding you Craig... poor matt, comming up to him and trying to ask about you. :P But you GOTTA realise that when you work at the table of the host you become a central figure for the show!

Think we can find those stickers at a dollar store? maybe zellers?

HumphreyBoagart
02-28-05, 06:25 PM
LOL!
Well if you weren't an hour and a half late, that would have made it easier too! LOL! Just kidding! It's all good. I'm just glad we met up, because like 5 minutes before you got there, I sent my girlfriend around to find the best deal on a breedable pair of tang Albinos while I waited there for you. She just got back and was telling me where the deals were when Matt pointed you out to me. Thanks Again Matt! And thank you too, Ashley, they're nicer than the pics of them you sent me. Not that they're not nice in the pics too, everything always looks so much better in person. They are happily living in harmony with the five "normal" females in a 55 gallon that I set up with my favorite pieces of driftwood that just barely even fit in the 55g! And I don't know who said on here in another thread that they are strictly terrestrial, because they haven't stopped climbing on the drifwood yet!

PS. Yeah the dollar store should have em. : )

Great Idea. This was only my second show and tried the introduction thing my first time....I did get a blank stare...as I crawled back into the wood work.

I picked up some snake chow (ratsicles) and a telescopic snake hook from PCPC. I'm not really in the market for new herps right now, not that you can ever have enough but I don't have the space right now.

Nice to finally meet Ryan and discuss the status of our native species.

had a great time! see you in April

I just came home with a bunch of feeders, and an adorable leo from reptile kings but it was for someone else :( My friend, though, she picked up a tiny snow corn, a leo, and a ball python, and my mother (tortle lover that she is) finally found a mate for her three-toed box!
I feel deprived, but the show was great and I wish I stayed longer to talk to more people! Name tags would be great! I think I recognized about a handful of people from the last show, and on ssnakess.
GREAT show, can't wait for the next one! Wish I lived closer!

We had a lot of calendar sales and t-shirt sales. We were also able to discuss the KTTC and the plight of road-injured turtles with a lot of people and that alone is very important. Of course, we also received a sizeable donation and Kristy (the veterinarian at the KTTC) asked me to pass on her gratitude to you Heather :)

Sorry I'm late with my post. It's been one of those weeks.... my 'puter died last Wednesday and I just got it back. You know you're a forum addict when you head to ssnakess.com first thing after a week of no computer :)

Anyhoo...
I want to thank everyone who stopped at my table and especially those of you who bought some of my kids :)

Like so many others, I ended up buying though I hadn't planned on it. My best treasure from the show is the blue-eyed crested gecko from Linda (Painted Desert Geckos). I've been looking for a blue-eyed one for years!!
And Sam (Reptile Kings) had a female baldy tang leo that made eye-contact with me through the deli-cup. Need I say more? ;)
Towards the end of the show I happened to have a minute and found myself at the PCPC table. Darn it, they had a striped gargoyle gecko baby, and I just happened to have the exact change in my hot grubby hand.

Matt_K:

t was also nice meeting the dozens of people that I did today, Nice to finally put faces to names

If it was sooo nice to meet people, how come you looked like you were in a panic everytime I walked up to you? Worried about the crestie curse I was putting on you? ;)
