Semi-aquatic terarrium bettas

could i keep a betta in a semi-aquatic terarrium w/ a red-eyed tree frog?

Yeah, I don't see why not, just as long as there is an easy way for the red eye to get out of the water..

It would probably be pretty stressful on the fish.... And maybe the water would get easily contaminated by the red-eye? I know a lot about bettas but nothing about frogs lol. I wouldn't think it would be TOO bad, but just check it out first and see how they both are together. ^_^

deffinatly a cool idea though. That would be awsome if you had like a 50 gallon set up to be semi-aquatic.

Betta do live in some pretty nasty water in the wild. Hence the ability to breathe air from the surface.

LEt us no how it turns out for sure I'd love to see pics.

Thanks for the replies. The terarrium im setting up is a 60 gallon I dont have a digital camera but my g/f does so I'll post some pics (if possible) when I'm done

Mind if I copy your idea? Its just to hard to resist. I have a tnake that is cracked on one side. SO if i divide it off and only use the other side for water I could do something similar. But i think im going to go with ornate reed frogs.

I don't mind a bit, go for it. In my 60g I was planning on doing like 1/4 of it water, and the rest of it will be like living plants and mosses. I just hopes it turns out as good as I picture it.

I think the best way to come around to doin' this is by NOT using a false bottom setup, rather, use a divider that seperates water and land...

Thats a cool idea, one of my friends also has a semi aquatic terrarium for his dwarf caimen pair .In his 180 gallon tank he took a piece of glass and he siliconed glued the glass to the botton middle of the tank at a 45 degree angle, so that way the water dosent spoil the soil. Now he has little goldfishand koi in one half of the tank and the other half is dry land where he has his dwarf caimen and a couple RES turtles. Amazing setup if you ask me. Big dave that sounds awsome. I would love to see pics of your friends set up. I did the same thing on a much smaller scale. I only have a 29 gallon.
