I recently purchased a red tail. He is about two and a half feet long and seems awful skinny. He is only about one inch around. Is this normal for a red tail this size? I have only had ball pythons in the past. My red tail also has become infested with mites. I have never had this problem and have housed my balls for two years now. Think he had them when I purchased him. The last time he ate three days later he regurgitated his mice, and went into shed within the next two days...his eyes turned...I soaked him daily and he shed today. After the shed he still appears to have mites. I am more concerned with the weight length ratio and the regurgitation than the mites....I can get rid of them...please let me know if he ought to be larger or if this is a normal size for one growing? If he ought to be larger I will take him to my vet..

Well, I would say treat the mites because I doubt he will eat with a mite infestation. Then get him on Rats, he will be able to handle Weanling (35-45g) rats. I am sure after 3-4 weeks you will see a noticable differance.

Good luck, keep us posted and get those mites taken care of.

Oh Pictures would be great too (easier to see problems/health).
