I want to get some crested geckos but I have a few questions about them first. I already did a search for the answers, but didn't have any luck. To some it's going to seem like stupid question, but oh well!
Okay, I know they can't be sexed until they are sexully mature, but I was wondering if you ended up having more than one male do they have to be seperated once they are adults? Will they fight til death like leopard geckos or can you just leave them together and they'll be fine? I want to get 1.3 but know with my luck it will end up beind 3.1! Does anyone know anyone that has sexed adults available? Preferably Flames, Dalmations, Red Harlequins etc.
Thanks in advance,
Hump.

Yeah you would have to split the males up. Its going to be expensive for a 1.3 group especially if they are nice looking. I would just get some juvies if you end up with extra males sell them. You are in southern ontario they shouldn't be hard to get rid of.

Cool thanks.
Another question...
Is it true that cresties can't be incubated for specific sexes?
Thanks

I have heard that females tend to hatch from lower temps (high 60s) and males tend to hatch out at higher temps (high 70s low 80s)

wow! thats really low temps! So do you even need to put them in an incubator, or would putting them in a container with damp vermiculite in a warm room within that temperature range suffice? thanks for the replies! : )

i dont keep cresties, but i believe that some people incubate them at room temp. as for buying animals that are already sexed, you will often see adult males for sale, but females tend to be held back, and if they do come on the market they are expensive and snapped up quickly.

That's awesome! Makes for a LITTLE bit cheaper hydro bill!
So just in damp vermiculite/perlite? Does the same go for Leos?
Haven't really read up on incubation for them yet, haven't needed to, but hopefully soon with any luck! : )
Yeah I figured it would be hard to find adult females for sale, I'm just hoping I find someone that has a colony they want to get rid of. Thanks for all the help everyone, It is greatly appreciated.

We use perlite....1:1 ratio of water to perlite by weight.
You can use this to incubate any soft-shelled gecko egg. The only difference with leos is that they will need a much higher incubation temp, so an incubator is pretty much a must for them.
We have quite a few highly colored juvies at the moment so drop me a pm or e-mail and I can let you know what we have available. :)
I noticed adult females are very hard to find. I have bought 3 juvies hoping for females. one is a year old now and definately a male. the other two are too young still but one looks like it will be a female (keeping fingers crossed) the only problem is that i have raised these from 2 weeks old and cannot give them up. so i will keep trying for more females to put in with my lonely males. anyways i am only at 2.1.2 cresteds so far.

Depending on the enclosure they're in, you can house males together.
In an 80g, keeping 2.3.1 ... It happens often that the 2 males sleeps ''together''
No fights ... Maybe I'm tackina risk !
With temperature around 79.8 F, you get a ratio near the 50/50
During winter, I have to use an aquarium heater. During summer I have have to find a cool place because it's too hot in the app.
