Hey everyone,
Tonight i was reading the threads and noticed someone had mentioned putting polysporin on amphibians..I was wondering if this is a good idea or not. If it is not what should be used on them if there is a wound of some sort?
Thanks,
Davey

It was probably me that said it, and I got that info from a reputable reptile vet in town. I know a few people that have used it and I myself have used it with no problems.
Hump.
edit- just noticed you said amphibians, I used it on a snake. I don't see why it would be any different though. I'm sure someone will let us know if I'm wrong! : )

My concern would be them absorbing it, which is why I share the curiousity, as I know some amphibs absorb stuff through their skin and I wonder if that would harm them.

thanks. i do use it on snakes and lizards, but it would be different on an amphibian because of the type of skin they have, it absorbs things much more then a snake or lizards skin would therefor making them more sensative to a lot of chemicals and products. thats why im not sure if polysporin would be safe to use. thanks for the reply though :)

I would err on the side of caution and say no myself, but check with a local herp vet and see what they say.
