Triple H, WWE (RAW), beating - all in the same sentence - am I the only one that still believes that type of wrestling is fake :D

Joking, no insult but it is fake until once in a blue moon someone actually gets killed, the sad part of the highly aggressive fake world of this entertainment.

May be fake Tony...but so is almost everything else you watch on TV or in the theatre, guess that ruins all the good sci-fi horror and action hits, ..huh?

As 'fake' as WWE might be, those people put themselves at GREAT risk each and every night.. Between that and their scheduale, they deserve some respect..

What TV show and movies are fake damn you burst my bubble :D

Though the difference is I won' t sport $10 - $40 (whatever it costs) to watch the Hulk rise after a beating with the earthquake moves with 1 knee on the ground and the arms rising with cheering believing fans, lol. And the damn close up punch shots clearing showing 6 inches if not more of no impact. On TV its part of your daily cable use, buying tickets to sit in an arena chanting your favorites......is to funny to watch. I love hearing the arena counts of sold out this sold out that. I am sure many believe its fake but there are some that believe its not, and in the last few years they do go over the edge to show more pain with crazy cage matches and dumpster drops and parking lot hit and runs.....yup I saw some of those. Its fun to watch the extent they go to make it look more real. And yes they deserve something, but from a non believer it will be very little if nothing :D

LOL.

I used to be a WWE fan....no longer have the time, nor interest to watch them anymore..and I hafta agree with Matt, may be fake..but alot of the moves those guys/ girls put there bodies threw.....deserves my applause.

oh and...HHH sucks...always has. Game Over!

For a non believer...you quote as if you know alot about the matches..lol. Regardless...I highly doubt many of them do beleive its real, its entertainment and everyone has there thing...some wouldnt pay $50.00 to see a wrestling event...and then there are some who wouldnt pay $10 grand for a reptile. We arent all perfect.

I don't care what anyone says about it being completely fake.........you can't jump off a 10-15 foot ladder, land on your side, back, a$$, or whatever and not expect the pain to be real!!!! These guys should be applauded for both there theatrical skills and there physical skills! I'd think twice before doing a lot of the things I"ve seen on there!

It's fake but the danger is real. Anyone remembers SID VICIOUS?

I used to watch the WWE but I found the story lines got stale and didn't find it fun to watch anymore.

As for it being fake, yea it's fake but that isn't the point. It is the male soap opera and fun and mindless to watch.

But as for the danger of wrestling, it is very real, just ask Mick Foley how real the danger is when he fell 15 Feet from a cage giving way and a chair falling behind him, hitting him in the face and knocking out 3 of his teeth. The match itself may be staged but the danger associated with some of the things that they do is very real.

*edit*

As another side note of the dangers of wrestling. Owen Heart comes to mind who died in an accident related to wrestling.

*edit again*

Also other mentions, Droz who is now a parapalegic (sp?) from getting dropped on his neck. Steve Austin who broke his neck and and now has constant neck and knee problems. Chris Benoit another neck injury person, there are more I just can't think of anymore at this point.

Iceman

you know alot of "adults" say it's fake, that they use ketchup for fake blood, lol..

the matches are scripted, they know who will win and lose, but like alot of the above posters said, falling off a high ladder doesnt feel fake to the wrestlers, or when everytime a wrestler is suppose to do it, he blades him self, normally either the wrestler has the little razor sharp blade in a capsul in his wrist band, or the ref hands it to them while he is down, and the ref pretends to ask if he's ok..

sometimes ignorant people make me laugh, tell them to go do a 450 splash and land wrong, or a shooting star press, then when there in a wheelchair for the rest of there life they wont be saying its fake anymore...

the word for wrestling is not fake, its scripted..

i have been watching wrestling since it was big john stud v.s andre the giant, or rick rude v.s ultimate warrior when to mock the warrior rick rude had a picture of him on his tights...

edit: want to talk injuries? ok..

1: d'lo brown powerbombed droz and paralized him for life

2: owen hart piledrived austin and made him have lifetime neck problems

3: vince mcmahon forced owen hart to come down from the rafters on a cord as the blue blazer, even though owen was scared of hights, and owen fell to his death

4: lita got a bigboot to the face with a highheel shoe, and had to get stitches over her high

5: mick foley was shot off of the top of the cell and got like 5 injuries at once including his tooth being pushed up through his upper lip..

i can go on and on

EVERYONE:

Did a fast search on google for wrestling deaths and got this site.

Bruiser Brody
On July 17 1988 Frank "Bruiser Brody" Goodish was wrestling in Puerto Rico for WWC. It is believed Brody and wrestler Jose Gonzales (also known as Invader III) got into a fight over something and it resulted in Brody being stabbed to death by Gonzales. Gonzales was arrested and questioned but no other wrestler would testify against Gonzales as the other Puerto Rican wrestlers were not fond of American wrestlers at all and the American wrestlers were scared for their lives if they talked. The case was never figured out and Jose Gonzales has never been charged of anything.

Adrian Adonis
On July 4, 1988, Keith "Adrian Adonis" Franke died when his rented minivan hit a moose while on a wrestling tour in Newfoundland, Canada. Moose/vehicle accidents are rather common in Newfoundland in the summer months, however very few are fatal (maybe 5-6 deaths per year). Adonis' accident happenned just before sunset, with the low-lying sun blinding the driver. Inin the crash were wrestlers Pat Kelly and Dave McKigney. The driver who was also a wrestler Mike Kelly was not killed but had a severely injured leg.

Dino Bravo
On March 11, 1993 Dino Bravo was gunned down gangland style in his apartment in Quebec, Canada, and has been figured as the target of an organized crime hit because of his involvement in cigarette smuggling activities in Canada. Scores of spent shells were found with Bravo's bullet-ridden corpse. He was 44.

Louie Spicoli
Louie Spicoli has taken a large quantity of the drug Soma and large quantities of alcohol. It was rumored he died of a heart attack but the actual cause of death was suffocation on his own vomit.

Brian Pillman
Brian Pillman died of a heart attack. Even though it's rumored to be caused by use of drugs and alcohol Pillman's death was actually caused by a heart condition that was not detected. He died peacefully in his sleep in his hotel room the day of WWF's Badd Blood ppv.

Junkyard Dog
Sylvester Ritter or as fans know him as Junkyard Dog died after falling asleep while driving his car and hitting a tree. He had just attended his daughter's graduation which is the one thing he said he wanted to do before he died.

Ravishing Rick Rude
Rick Rude died of a heart attack on April 20, 1999. A bottle of prescription pills(for his bad back) was found by his side and it's rumored that he had overdosed on them. He was 40 years old.

The Renegade
The Renegade whose real name is Rick Williams committed suicide by shooting himself in 1999. Williams had been recently released from WCW. When Williams first went to WCW he was given a huge push but soon after he dropped off a WCW television and Williams never could handle it.

Owen Hart
Owen Hart died from falling from the rafters of Kemper Arena in Kansas City on May 23, 1999. It is believed while Owen was about to make his entrance from the roof his Blue Blazer costume got caught in the rigging wires which were being used to lower him. Owen fell over fifty feet and landed in the ring. He died of critical shock trauma caused by the impact of the fall.

A separate page will be dedicated to Owen Hart's career in the faq in the upcoming months.

"Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
Curt Hennig was found dead in his hotel room on February 10th, 2003 in Tampa, Florida. Currently, details surrounding the death are not known at this time but anything alcohol or drug related isn't expected to be the cause of the death.

Miss Elizabeth
On May 1, 2003, Elizabeth Huelette was at Lex Luger's home when she passed away. Huelette had some alcohol to drink after she had taken pills. The official cause of death was a drug overdose. Elizabeth was 42 years old.

Yokozuna
October 22, 2000 marks the day "Yokozuna" (Real Name: Rodney Anoia) passed away due to a heart attack. Anoia weighed in at almost 600 pounds at the time of his death. He was 34 years old.

"Classie" Freddie Blassie
At the age of 85, wrestling legend Freddie Blassie died from natural causes. Up until the year of his death, Blassie made occasional appearances on WWE TV, and also released a book before his death. The date of Blassie's death was June 2, 2003.

Stu Hart
The patriarch of the Hart family, another wrestling legend Stu Hart died on October 16, 2003 after battling a lengthy illness of pneumonia. Hart made a monumental impact on wrestling in Canada, and trained several wrestlers in the infamous "dungeon." All of Hart's son's got into wrestling, and all of his daughters ended up marrying wrestlers. Stu was 88 years old at the time of his passing.

DAVID:

Found this on SID VICIOUS, and no he did not die.

I think the first death I remember hearing about was an accident that happened with a pile driver move on one of the British Bull Dogs (could be wrong its been years and it might have been a rumour).

I always hate it when people use the word "fake" to describe wrestling entertainment. It takes incredible talent and athletic ability to pull off what you see as "fake" wrestling. The sport is more dangerous than any hockey or football game and just as extreme as ultimate fighting. wrestlers risk their lives almost everyday just for the sake of entertainment. I've seen first hand the sometimes life changing injuries that can occur in the ring. Some of the wrestlers live with pain everyday because they don't want to loose their contracts(that's whats happening in the WWE right now. if they become injured and need a lengthy recovery time they may loose their contract). I'm not saying that wrestling is real either but the moves, submission holds, body contact and the resulting injuries are very real even though the winner has been predetermined. I feel much better now having said this. I'm not dissing you in particular, I just hear that "fake" thing way too much.

LOL I can not believe I missed any of this thread :P
I for one hope Batista Kicks HHH's a$$ and it just might happen this time Hunter has been taking him under his wing in essence to train a new champ for the WWE.

Now as for the fake part :P stories staged but the actions very real....so who cares :) There showmen thats their job.

I know Sid didn't die. I meant that he got a bad injury from wrestling.
He's ok now, anyway. He did a come-back match at some canadian federation and he's ready for action again. I heard he's gonna be Big show's next partner or something (wow, that's gotta be close to 900 pounds together).

I absolutely agree with all the last posts, it's predetermined, not fake. Like good ol' JR says "How can you learn how to fall off a 20 foot ladder".

Batista and Cena are the future of the company, more so Cena, as I like to compare him to the Rock. I say this because he doesnt have the greatest wrestling skills and relies on a few trademarks to finish matches but has outstanding charisma and ring presence...for example

5 knuckle shuffle = People's Elbow
FU = Rock Bottom
You Can't See Me/Word Life taunt = People's Eyebrow

I'm personally not a huge fan of Cena, but I do respect him because outside the ring, he's a great guy and you can tell he loves being there and having fans cheer for him.

But I still don't think anyone can spit a rhyme like Kurt Angle :P

lol my friend says if john cena wins the title and turns it into a spinner he will never watch wrestling again, lol..

also, i liked john cena since he was prototype in ovw (i used to watch it)

Little late on this thread. I've watch the WWF(It will never be the WWE to me, even though it was the WWWF years ago before my time) since I was 7, lol. And many of the names Tony listed in his quote I watched as a young kid and yeppers, a couple did die. So the risks are definately there. My favorate wrestlers of all times was Yokazuna(RIP) and British Bulldog. They kicked @ss. :) Aw, my WWF memories....

On a side note, HHH like to be the villian, so I predict he will do a 180 and pull out his imfamious sludgehammer and crack Batista's back behind the ref's back. And don't forget Flair. He's a little pain in the butt to. It could be a very interesting match, as Vince knows how to put a real Twist on things, thats for sure... I predict HHH will still rain champ by dafault. :D

I've watch this waaaay to long, lmao.

Ric Flair is a legend, and considering his age, he is doing an amazing job of staying with the game. His promo's are top of the industry and he's one of the best raw actors that WWE has.

As much as so many people hate him because of his age, it gives me more respect because he goes at a pace that he can keep going 3-4 times a week, allbeit its not the greatest match in the world, he still does it, which says more than a lot of guys who have called it quits @ 40
