Does anyone know anything about Burgundy Balls? According to Ralph Davis it is a Proven Simple Recessive trait. My Pastel is Het Burgundy, so I would love to find a het female around somewhere. Of course I will be hanging on to any girls he produces in the next couple years, to try to prove them out, but to find a female het for him would be nice.

TBH I don't even know what they are worth either het or hom. As I have not seen any for sale.

Some burgundy's have proven to be genetic and many others have not! You are right, Ralph as well as Vin Russo @ Cutting Edge Herpetological did prove out their line.

Have you asked Corey if his line was proven genetic?

Post some pics of this bad boy!

I didn't ask, he said it was from a Burgundy Female. I have no reason to doubt him as to the best of my knowledge he is a reputable guy. I did buy the Ball because he was a Pastel, but now I am thinking about exploring the Burgundy thing, if it is genetic it would be a waste to have the gene in one of my Balls and not at least try to prove it out :)

Here are a couple pics, some posted before but what the hay, I love posting and looking at pics :D ***Hint Hint**
And his name is da Vinci !!

Shawn, What a beaut he is...

I know Corey is a stand up guy and was in no way implying anything. I just remember Corey telling me about his monster burgundy female and in my old age, I didn't quite remember if he had proven her or not.

Regardless, your male kicks but and if the Burg does turn out genetic, then can you say burgundy pastel !!!

Marc,
Hehe I never assumed you were implying anything. Thats one thing I have learn from doing a ton of work via e-mail. You can't assume you understand a persons "feeling" behind their typed words. Thats why I never understand "flame wars". LOL people get thin skinned too easily.

Anyways, you are correct, I don;t know if she proved out. I will have to ask Corey. So when are you sending me a female to try him on? :D

Hey on yet another side note, I lived in Montreal for 6 year when I first joined the Military. I was posted to Longue Point Garrision at the corner of Hochelaga and Langelier (LOL spelling?). What a great city for young guy!

Greenman, did you get that Pastel from Corey? I believe he did have a pastel het-burgundy for sale a few months ago...

I have talked to Corey via email, and I think his burgundy female has not been proven yet, but I saw pictures of her and it sure looks burgundy to me...

I'm hoping to be working with an unproven burgundy male in the 2005-2006 season.. I'm hoping to have some hets available in 2006. This huge male (2600g when empty) is an awesome looking animal and looks like he's going to be an agressive breeder. He's not as bright as some other burgundy's I've seen (online/pictures only), but it really looks like it's the realy thing to me. The pattern of this animal is almost identical to Vin Russo's line of burgundy's... I'm expecting this line to be simple recessive and should produce animals very similar to Vin Russo's line. Corey's burgundy is different that this one (pattern and color is different, has faded head, etc). I think Corey's female was brighter than this male also.

I can't wait to start on that project!

Here are a few pictures of him:

well Marc, it's going to be a while.. so there's no waiting list at this time... there's a lot of interest, so I may be starting one, but right now is way too early to be starting a list... another problem is we don't know how many will be available.

I've been in aquisition mode lately (females) trying to make sure I'll have enough females ready for all my own projects, and also the burgundy project (breeder loan - shared project)... I really look forward to working with this animal and I'll certainly be keeping everybody posted..

Thanks,
Bristen.

nope, don't mind at all... first of all, I don't own this animal (although I really wish I could!! The owner won't sell it to me, I wonder why? heh)...

There is a fellow www.ssnakess.com user (LostWithin) which does not live far from my place. We met late in 2004. He's had this male for a pet for something like 10 years (I forget the details). It was already an adult when he got it I believe. He did a great job with the big guy as he's in perfect condition! I had the animal at my place for a few weeks in 2004.

Thanks for the interest,
Bristen.

Thanks,
Bristen.

Hey Bristin I debated adding a few pic’s here as well but you beat me to it.

I have had this guy for years, I picked him up 8 years ago (if memory serves me right) he was sold to me as a 3 year old adult female. I didn’t ever bother to have it probed because of his Large Size and since breeding him only became a recent interest. With any luck Bristin and I will have some breeding arrangement next year, Unless he gets to much of his own on the go.

Here’s one more pic just for fun, I find it picked up his color well. Bristin pointed out what I now call the “goose” on his back. I didn’t ever notice it until he pointed it out in a picture now it sticks out every time I look at him lol,

(this pic was taken by Bristin as well)

To be honest with you it all depends on the flash, some pics look completely normal. It's a hard trait to photograph. Also depends on when you take the pictures I find the warmer he is the better his color shows. I wish I had taken more pictures over the years there were times when he was much lighter in color.
