My grandpa accidentily hurt a little toad while he was working in the garden. His front left leg was cut off but it doesn't seem to be bleeding. Is there anything I can do for him? It's kinda cold out and the little guy must have been hibernating. I've got him in a 10gl with soil and a heating pad for now untill I find out what to do with him. Please let me know.

I would've put him back, especially if it is during a delicate time (ie- hibernation, etc.). I remember all the times my dad ran over toads with lawnmowers and weedwackers (by accident) when I was a kid, and I would keep them in a box on my front porch for the summer with no special attention to the wounds, and let them go when fall was approaching. They all did fine. Toads seem to have a very good natural recovery ability (as do most amphibians) when it comes to that stuff.
