My large male redtail.Close to 6 feet 4.5 inch girth. well lets just say " HE's A PIG "

I got him on 3 large rats every 2 weeks...and he seems to want more after I feed him...and I don't give him no more... for about 2 weeks...sometimes 10 days..

I think it would be easier to take him to 1 small maybe lil less then medium rabbit..( not baby rabbit.. but a young rabbit ) once every 10 rats .... its got to be about the same amount of meat as 3 large rats...F/T

I know he would take a young rabbit no problem or just keep him on large rats....

Anyones OPINION would be good ??

If someone here feeds there boa rabbits

WISEMAN:

I have a few boas that enjoy a good size rabbit, makes things easier than feed a group of rats that is for sure. Mine eat 1 - 3 lbs rabbits ranging from a jumbo sized rat to a 2 litre pop bottle. Try your on a bunny to see if the taste is there for rabbit and work your way up to safe sized meals :D

It would actually be easier, cheaper ,and better for your boa if you just fed him one jumbo rat every two weeks. At that size and age he's not really growing anymore so doesn't need that much food. He will end up very obese and live a much shorter life feeding him what you are currently. No disrespect intended, just my opinion.

Dave68 is right on this one, wiseman. You should feed your snake a little less. My male is 6' too and eating a 500g rat every 14 days and going fat. I don't know what your ''large rats'' look like but if they are 400-500gs, then you're going to kill your snake eventually if you dont feed him less!! I would actually feed mine something like a 1pound rabbit or something near it... How much do your ''large rats'' weight? ( on all this, correct me someone if i'm wrong but thats a lot of food for a 6' bci... ).

The reason why your boa is still looking for more is because you feed him multiple meals. It has created a certain "routine" for your boa, so of course he's looking for more - because he usually is getting more.

And I concur with everyone above... if he's around the 4 year mark, he's not going to grow much more, so there's no need to feed him as much.

Do you mean diameter or circumference? If your snake has a 4.5" diameter, then that is grossly massive for a snake pushing only 6'. That being said, I agree with everything Dave68 said.

OK.. I'll cut back..
I don't have a weigh scale for the large rats..and about 14-15cm.. SORRY no tape measure around ...WITHOUT the tail..
( BODY ) rat's are a nice size.. not skinny

I will cut back.. maybe 2 large rats every 10-14 days...my estimate is My REDTAIL 4 + inch girth to him... and just shy of 6 feet..
