View Full Version : Pics of LTR's
This is Salt, my only male LTR. These have got to be one of my favourite snake species, if not my favourite snake.
A pair of similar pics.

Look at that eye, isn't he just a cutie?

Sweet personality on this guy. I've been taking him to shows where he's handled by kids since he was just a wee one. I've found him to be a shy eater. I have to leave his food in his container before he will eat.
I've noticed that obseleta, have this "look" about them, where they watch YOU as they eat their meals. Maybe it's their big eyes.
Anyways, here's an "artistic" black and white photo thrown in, just so I can glorify my Salt some more.

I've noticed that my LTR is very "alert", she watches everything when I have her out, and she cocks her head like a bird sometimes, it's so neat.

nice snake man, how much did he cost?
OK, I'm a moron!!
Does LTR stand for leucistic Tiger Rat?
Gorgeous snake, and I m very jealous. Those clear blue eyes are stunning.
Nice snake you got there Katt! Congrats
eyespy: LTR = Leucistic Texas Rat
Thanks for all the compliments guys!
D'oh!!! Texas! See, I told ya I was a moron.
It's nice to learn about all the beautiful Elaphes out there, and not just focus on cornsnakes. In my little corner of the world corns and garters are about the only "little snakes" I see. Most folks are into Burms and Balls and Carpets. Unfortunately, most of them don't have the skills to handle the big strong boids and should pay more attention to other beautiful creatures. Those folks are the ones who give herpers a bad name and get all those stupid laws passed.
Well, sorry about the rant, I'm hopping off my soapbox now......
Thanks for the lesson, josefg, and for the pics, Katt.
Now all you other folks out there with Elaphe species, feel free to post your pics and clearly identify them for me so I can keep on learning while having fun. There are so many gorgeous snakes in the world and I want to see as many as I can!
He's soo cute and cuddly...
I wish i had the $ and time to set up a facility to keep most of the snakes of the world in a breeding program
Wow, very impressive snake, Katt. How is his temperament like? I am exclusively into boids, and know next to nothing about colubrids..
Very nice snake Katt.. trullly amazing eye . love the b/w pic.
Eyespy...
I feel pretty insulted by your comment ..
""""""""""Most folks are into Burms and Balls and Carpets. Unfortunately, most of them don't have the skills to handle the big strong boids and should pay more attention to other beautiful creatures. I own many carpets, balls, a burm and a rock .. does that mean I lack the skills . On the contrary MOST OF THEM know what they are doing .. Just like there are idiots with venemous there are idiots with large boids but There are WAY WAY MORE competent ppl handling them..
On an other note .. there are as many collubrid or elaphes that are neglected as the venemoids or boids or lizards or crocodilians.. .. there are bad herpers in all categories.. Its just u don't hear on the news about a corn snake being mistreated but u will always about someones bumese escaping ..
Anyway have a nice day ..
Dom
I for sure didn't mean to insult you, I was speaking of folks in my area. About 600 boids are sold in my county annually, and about 400 end up in rescues. A truly dire scenario indeed!!
There is not a big herp market in my area, and many of the folks who would love to learn proper husbandry and handling of boids, crocidilians, venomous, etc. have nowhere nearby to learn the practical hands-on skills they need. It's a real problem.
No harm done Eyespy .. I understand your point .. Just try not too generalize the whole lot of us when u are stricly talking about a particular situation ..
A very sad case indeed
Well, Dom, that's why I started my point by saying "In my area...." so as not to generalize. Again, I'm sorry to have made any implications on all herpers. Even though I run a rescue and see a lot of abuse, I also see many folks who are knowledgeable and capable and treat their animals with respect and proper care.

Hi Katt, I'll have to take some shots of Yolk (my male LTR from Katt) to show you how mean he thinks he is now. Along with his increased feeding has come major attitude. He is in strike pose almost always & likes to hiss at me with his mouth open! Quite often I'll be doing things & I can hear him hissing & striking out even though I'm no where near him. He is very observant to everything around him & considers me & everything else a "threat' to him LOL. It's kind of funny though because I just hook him & once in hand he's not bad. Just have to watch he doesn't bite the other one LOL. Mark IsBell - GONE SNAKEE!

You keep refering to "your area", but unless I'm blind or dumb (lol) I don't see a location listed. Where exactly is "your area"? Just curious. Mark IsBell - GONE SNAKEE!
Again another post that went missing.
Glad to hear Yolk is doing well Mark! Sucks about his attutide though. His brother is so placid and calm, as are Sugar and my other female LTR. A mean LTR just isn't my gig.
Get some photos of him so we can see!!!

I'm sure Yolk will chill out a bit as he gets older. He's seen a lot of meals since he's been here & not so much handling. I'm sure he'll chill out more once he realizes that I'm not a threat, but the "good guy". His future girlfriend can be a handfull also. Hasn't tagged me yet but I'm sure she could if she really wanted to. Shes only struck at me once, but is extremely flightly & really fast. I think I'll call her "White Lightning", what are the odds againest being struck by "lightning" anyway L.O.L. It she had Yolks atttitude I'd be worried! Cheers Mark IsBell - GONE SNAKEE!
P.S. Katt I'll send some pics soon & post some once I figure it out.
