why are royal (sorry ball) python morphs expensive compared to morphs of other species?

Well, there is the variety of morphs and endless possibilities, but probably the biggest reason is most people can handle (and by that I mean talk their wife into letting them get one) a 4-5 foot snake as opposed to a 16 foot Rock Python At the same time they are not too small like corn snakes (no offense to the corn snakes :) ). It's like dogs, IMO, **** Tzus are too small and Great Danes (I am owned by two) are too big! But Golden Retrievers are just right..........sorta.

Anyways thats just my opinion.

There is lots of demand because they are a small, exotic (i.e. boid), docile snake. The normals are only so cheep because perhaps as many as 150,000 are exported from Africa each year.

There isn't much supply because we haven't been breeding them very long and they aren't very prolific.

Can anyone think of a snake that is less prolific (produces smaller clutches and takes even longer to mature)?

I agree with Randy other species lay large clutches which floods the market easily and drops the value.

I agree to with the whole clutch size just look at how many eggs a burm can have, at first albinos were huge demand but after a good few years they became vary common. Balls will decline in price, but not to the extent of getting an albino for a few hundred or a het gor 50. Just my 2 cents.
