View Full Version : Finally my ATB enclosure is done (Pic)
Well this is the enclosure that i built for my new ATB. She will be here on Tuesday. Its 24"H, 22"W, 24"D. Someone on another forum suggested that he thinks the flourescent light is a bad idea. IDK why. Does anyone know why it might be a bad idea.

I'll post pics of her in it when she gets here on tuesday. I'm guessing she is gonna be pretty pissed after being shipped so she is gonna get 2 weeks to chill before i even try to see how her temperment is.
The cage looks great and if the plants are real I'd say the flourescent is a must, but because it looks exposed that could pose as an issue I would guess....other than that the cage looks nice and roomy and lots of elbows to perch in...again, good job! Allison
The plant is real. So i do need a light of some sort. I am currently fitting the fixure for a mesh peice to put over the light. It won't be exposed when i put the snake in. Real plants look so much nicer and also help with the humidity and air quality i think they are a must in an aboreal's enclosure. Thanx for the compliments.

I wouldent use the light..and if i was i would use a 15w that isent
flourescent..but everyone thinks somthing different..
Many people on different forums have said not to use the flourescent lighting. However many other people who i know to be very knowledgable on ATBs have said that it is fine and all the research that i have done has shown that there is no reason not to use them. Is there any basis or facts that you have as to why u shouldnt use a flourescent bulb.
I got the dowels from home depot and i sealed them with a sealant called Polycrylic. Its a water based polyurithane made by Minwax. This is so that they don't mold, because exposed wood will mold up quickly in high humidity conditions.

are they expensive??
the dowels?? If thats wut u mean, they are between 2-5$ each depending on thickness. They were all precut 4ft lengths. So no they r not expensive actually very cheap. And the polycrylic to seal them was like 7$ or 8$.
