You could make an easy trap with a pop bottle.
Get a 2L pop bottle, put a hot pinky or fuzzy in it and leave it out... hopefully the snake will crawl in, eat, and be too fat to get out the opening to escape again.
Good luck :)
I lost a BP in the same situation a while back, sadly.... He was never found...
They ussually come up... I had 1 ratsnake baby crawl outta my protection and into the house, pturned up 4 months later in the washroom... with my mom screamin' :P
Best of luck, they can fit in any crack or crevice :|

I really like the pop bottle idea Heather, never heard that one before but it actually sounds like it would work.

to add to the stories, when we had our pet store 4 or 5 years ago, we had a Kenyan escape and at the time we thought it had been stolen and about a week went by and I was doing rodent cage cleaning and guess where the little guy showed up...........under the shavings in a chinchilla cage....good thing I found him when I did......Allison

When my barneck scrub escaped I found him three weeks later at night crawling on top of a baseboard heater, they always go somewhere dark and warm. Another one escaped within my reptile room and I found her in the closet on a shelf uder some papers. Hope this helps.

Best method I have found with escapees, is simply waiting until it's dark, turn off everything that could possibly make noise, and listen with the lights out.. I have found snakes next day of escape in oother rooms in the house this way.

another method that i've heard suggested is to sprinkle some flour or something on the floor, you can see where it goes. I've never tried this myself thou.
to add to the escaped snake stories... not too long ago i had a white lipped python escape.. two weeks later we found him.. BACK in his enclosure. Talk about lucky!
look under everything.. we all know they like dark, cosy spots.. so think like a snake :P
Best of luck with your search

I have only ever had 3 snakes escape on me and all of which have been found within 24 hours. I find the best thing to do as soon as you have discovered an empty terrarium is...
1) Pick up the phone
2) Tell work or school that you are sick and won't make it in.
3) Grab your snake hook and go household herping for the day.
Make sure to leave absolutely nothing un-turned...check in EVERY place you think a snake that size might be able to fit - then check in the ones you don't think it can fit into.
If you really bust-down and tear apart the house (figure of speech) I promise you'll find your snake...and who knows you might even have a little fun in the process.
This is what has worked for me 3 times in a row.
Good luck!
I lost my corn snake.I didn't find him for about a week or so.Well, i didn't find him my wife did.She found him coiled up in the toilet brush holder.HOW BIZZARE!!!!

Also,
Look to everywere that is hotter (like under a refrigerator or water tank).
I know a breeder who found many lost snakes with sticky rat traps. Installed a few, in strategic place. If it work, clean the snake with baby oil to removed the glue.

I lost my corn snake once and i found it before i realised he was missing. I got pretty lucky, he didn't go very far. He ended up going into a small bucket sitting beside directly beside his tank and just staying there. Suprised me when i grabbed the bucket and seen him in there! Good luck, I hope you find the snake.

I'm sure it'll show up for you soon Kevin...
Before I secured his cage properly (dumb me) my ball python escaped twice. Both times he was found within a 2 foot diameter from his cage. It seemed he would evaporate, absolutely nowhere to be found, until he'd decide to slither over my feet in the morning or wake me up in the middle of the night by knocking crap off my shelves.
You could just wait it out :)

Often, they are juste on the nearest dark spot available. Sometime, you need to open everything (including closed box and all). I always find mine in a few second of search max. I was quite lucky actually.

Best of luck finding your Cal King, Kevin. I know it can be a pain, but the greatest feeling is that sense of relief when you find your snake. Keeeeeep on looking buddy ;).

I had two texas rat snakes get out once,,, found them in a rolled up sleeping bag!!!
Anyways, if you have wood or tiles/laminate floors and not carpet, I heard of someone powdering the floor with flour and seeing if the snake was moving through it then just following the tracks. Be real messy with carpet,,,lots of vaccuming though! Good luck!

I found an interesting spider in my basement while I wa looking for my snake. It was a small and black with a blackish/orange hour glass on it. This decribes the black window but I don't think there was on in my basemnet..lol
