Well I got this done today at Joker Tattoo on Centre st. NW . Highly reccomended, great people, lots of art work both dark and more brighter things.

Anyways it's deffinately worth it, I was in the chair an hour and a half and still need to go for touch ups in 2 weeks. I think im already hooked, I want to get it extended like 8 inches lol.

Let me know what you think

Looks good man. You happen to know the guys name who did it?
I worked in a couple different shops (in London) for about 5 years, needless to say I've got my fair share and I'm very much addicted to tattoos as well as herps. And as Slannesh said, welcome to the club! : )

Hump,

Who's the best artist in London? In your opinion? My wife and I both have been thinking about getting another Tat sometime soon.

Greenman,
IMHO there is only 2 good artists in town (out of at least 20). The two have very comparible work, but one seems to have much better pricing, which is a big plus in my books. I know in tattooing you get what you pay for, but I have seen thousands of tattoos by both, and they are very very close in quality. The guy I get to do mine is Sean at Hanger 18. I used to work there too, and I am very comfortable getting my work from him so I will continue to go to him, but the other one is Mike Austin. Both excellent artists and you can't go wrong with either of them.
Where are you from in SW Ontario?

Nice..... I would like to get one soon, though due to american laws you have to be 18 :P ..... So for now piercings will do my fine :)

Rikki,
I don't know if it's like this in the states, but here it is sort of an unwritten law. There is no legal age to get tattooed or pierced, but the tattooists do it to save the problems of pi$$ed off parents coming in and bitching. They usually go by 16 w/ parents consent or 18 on your own. I remember hearing of one case though of a divorced couple that while the kid was at the fathers for the weekend, he took the daughter in to get a piercing and the mother turned around and charged the father with child abuse!

Far as I know, Hump is correct. I have couple friends that have many tatoos, not one mentioned a legal age.

I meant to mention too that I lived in North Carolina for a while and good friends of mine had a tattoo shop there. I'm positive that there was no law there regarding age, but they too went by the unwritten law of 16 w/ parents consent or 18 on your own.

Hmmm, they said you have to be atleast 18 regardless. Piercings are acceptable only with guardian present.....

I got one back in october and i'm getting one for my 18th birthday.

Why do you have to be 18 to get a tattoo without your parents' consent???

Cool tat man...I would like to get one myself, pretty much like yours. Only I want it more on the inside of my bicep. And I agree, get that thing extended, show it off! :D

Where I went the guy did an awsome job on my right arm so i'll be going back. But I have to wait a couple of months since they only do tattoos on people 18+ (I was able to get an exception because my mom works with his wifes's mother). Getting a black/blue spider web on my right elbow!! :D

nice work, JeffT.... my artist back in BC... won't touch you with any ink or peircing.. unless your over 18... parent consent or not... these kids are still young... weather they want to admit it or not, especially little girls at 16 that want body peircings and all... When I was in his shop a mother was arguing with my guy about her 16 year old daughter getting a belly peircing.... it was quit funny.... and when youngings get ink done.. remeber it's there forever... so you need to think about it quit a bit... somthing at 16 is alot to do... IMO.... I was 21 when I got my first one and I still hate it... lucky for me my artist has a good design going to make it nice.... nice work though, and GUARENTEED... you'll be back in the seat sooner then you think... it's almost worse the crack man...lol

tattoos are very addictive I have 2 and want another 2. Just trying to find a good place in Edmonton to get it done. The place I got my last one at has closed so I'm trying to find a new one.

Nita,
Taking a trip to Calgary to see Paul Jefferies at Smilin' Buddha would be well worth it if he is still tattooing. I know he was planning on retiring soon, but I don't know if he has. Would be worth looking into.

I don't think he is tattooing anymore... I might be wrong... he is amazing though... anyone that works at Smilin' Buddha you would be impressed with.... the boys at IrionWill in Calgary do awsome work also... it would be worth the 2 hr trip to get some quality work done.....

Thanks for the complaments guys. I think you need to be 18 to get one done without consent, but my dad came along, signed the papers and headed home so I guess you can be any age if you have a signature.

Just curious why you choose that for a tat.... what it means to you? Just a question.... not looking for a fight.....

I've heard very good things about Smilin' Buddah. I will be up there hopefully for the spring and fall shows so maybe I can get one done then.

Smiling Buddah is great, but way overpriced. I recommend Fine Line Tattoo... talk to Shawn (Lil' Sarge), he's the best in the business as far as I'm concerned.

Jeff, when did you get so BIG dude???? You were like, Tiny last time I saw ya. :) Great tat, and welcome to the only addiction as powerful as herps. :)

Fine line is not bad I know a couple people who were tatted there... as for overpriced.... it's kinda like herps you pay for quality.. Don't, not get inked somwhere because you think it's overpriced.. remember it's with you for the rest of your life... get it because it's quality work!!

let's put it this way... Smilin' Buddah does walk ins on Sat's and before the place is even open you got people lined up outside already to get inked there... but every artist has a different style, you just have to find the one that suites you, that you like best... look around talk to different artists... then go under the needle... don't just "find a bargin" ...... my 2 cents

lol well thanks Ken, Im all grown up now. Whata re the prices like at fine line tattoo? I looked around for a while and found that Jokers was a pretty good deal and good staff, but ive never heard of Fine Line.

You sure are right about them being addictive though, I was sitting in the chair having it done and already picking out my next few I want lol.

I really like how spider webs look... Being on the elbow I can cover it up with a long sleeve shirt if I ever need to. :)

Yes that's what I thought... The infamous spider web on the elbow... do you know how that tattoo originated? the spider web, in general.... it can mean a couple different things.. now a days.... I just thought maybe you had your own reasoning for getting it.... I guess it is almost one of those stereo typical tats...

Jeff - Fine Line is $110/hour unless they've raised it recently. But the quality is definitely there. Here's an example:

http://www.invictusart.com/images/1_tat1.jpg

I got that tat in 1999, and it looks as good today as it did when I got it. I have 6 tats, but that's the one I like showing off. BTW, Shawn completely FREE-HANDED all of the shading you see there.

That's awsome Ken, looks great. Well maybe i'll pop by there some day and check things out, actually I think we passed fineline on our way to jokers.

Budda's great if you have a whack of extra cash to pay for the "name" & plan on booking way in advance with your cash deposit & good luck getting Paul Jefferies to do it LOL There are plenty of other very talented artists out there for 1/2 the price. Choosing an artist based on the work wanted is something to think about too. If all you want is some flash or simple tribal you don't need the best artist in the business to do it. For example would you hire Picasso to paint your fence? No, but you would hire someone qualified to do the project. I've seen way too many folks with the little simple stuff paying way too much for it just because who's doing it. I personally go see Steve at IRONWILL Tattoo her in Calgary. He won't even do flash, even the most basic crap he will redraw custom just because he hates flash so much. Too many folks are out there getting ink just to be trendy/cool. There is a big difference between a Tattooist & a Tattoo Artist & most folks don't seem to know/care. Hourly price is irrelevant when it comes down to being marked for life. There are lots of Tattooists eager to take your cash. I'd recommend saving up for a big custom piece over stopping by a shop for an hour or 2 to get the same old crap everyone else has, but thats just me, trendy I am not. Sitting in the chair is the easy part, its walking around with it for the rest of your life thats the hard part. I waited an extra 20 years to get inked just because I saw so many friends get Tattyed with what ended up nothing but crap in the long run. I'd recommend visiting various shops & talking to the artists & viewing their work & talking to the folks recv. it as well. IMHO its go big or stay home in reguards to Tattys & I personally recommend Steve at IRONWILL, Mark
P.S. Jason Slinger has also recently returned to Calgary from Amsterdam & he will be doing some awesome stuff once he settles into whatever local shop is lucky enough to get him.

Tattoo's are most definetly ADDICTIVE ,I have got them on my knuckles, hand, chest, back, neck, stomach, wrists ,shoulders, and both arms are full.I am about to go and get another on my neck in a couple of days.I would show them up here if I could figure out how to post pics on this site LOL.
