First of all, I am probably going to stupid, but meh.

alrighty, long story short, as you can see by my sig I am getting a gold phase white lipped python soon(put a deposit on it :D)

but me and my girlfriend have a deal, when I pick out a reptile to get, she gets to pick one out also.

I am trying to help her decide what to get.

here are some of the reptiles she was interested in, but me personaly I am only interested in snakes.

1: Bearded dragon, she wanted to get 1 or 2 like 8 months ago, but why she didn't is because she doesn't like the idea of having to feed them crickets every day, because we would have to keep going to the reptile shop to get them crickets each day, and she wouldn't want to keep like 1000 crickets in a tank, cause of the fear that some get out and we never catch them, lol.

2: Vield chameleon(sp?)
partly the same reason of beardies, that they have to eat crickets every day, and well thats it, the mesh cage wouldnt be a problem.

3: poisen dart frog, she really wants to get a few, but the 2 reasons that we may not get them are that we are afraid of the noises(ribbit O.o) that they would make to wake everyone up at night, and the fact that my uncle is scared that we will get poisened and die, lol(i tried to explain but he is stubborn.

4:red eye tree frog, only 1 reason, the waking up everyone at night with there sounds.

now before i continue, please don't give harsh comments, I am just asking simple questions.

here is basicly what she is looking for in a reptile.

1: if possible, something that we can put in one of those cool exo terra tanks, they are so cool, lol.

2: something that can have one of those store bought waterfalls in its tank.

3: something that doesnt need to eat crickets like every day(unless there is another way of doing it, like put a bunch of crickets in the tank, then maybe put more 2 days later)

4: something that won't make loud noises at night, that can wake up the whole house(unless the dart frogs or red eyes sounds aren't that loud)

5: something that doesnt cost a crap load of money(like a red ackie, lol)

now, it can be a type of frog, lizard, snake, anything like that, and if someone wants they can re assure us on any of the animals I listed above.

last question, say I am using a custom tank, or normall tank for a snake, can i put a waterfall in it? are they ok for smaller snakes??

please give us some ideas..

LOl thats funny, a while back me and my girlfriend were playing with a blue tounge skink, it was pretty cool(pet shop)

I will read some care sheets on them for sure, but another thing i noticed..

Crested Geckos are awesome looking!what about them?

there nocternal but once again crix.. honestly onve a beardie gets old enough they only need insects a few times a week.. and some have raised a beardie perfectly healthy on soaly store bought pellets.. and yoyu can make some really cool tanks..

I'd say a Crested gecko is a good choice. They do eat crickets but also fruit diets so crix don't need to be fed as much(still nec.) and they are super easy to keep since they only need room temps. Besides they are really cool little lizards that would do well in the tank you mentioned.

There are other feeder insects that you can keep in larger quantities without worry of escape:)

Blue tongue skinks can be a good choice, but they still do need to have some insects. Prehensile-tailed skinks can also be a good choice if you can find some. They are completely herbivorous. Water dragons do well in a rainforest environment, however they too, eat some bugs :flick:

These guys are desert creatures (low humidity), so they don't really satisfy your ideal waterfall setup, but I thought I would throw them out there anyways. Mali Uromastyx can be awesome little pets as well. They are also strict herbivores (although some people feed them the occassional cricket, it's unecessary). They are so friggin cute, easy to care for, and easy to handle :cool:

also, i think people are misunderstanding me, feeding crickets to a animal doesn't bother me at all, its having to feed them every day, because i know there are lizards that only eat a few times a week.

here are the main ones that my girlfriend is considering now(i agree with all 3)

bearded dragons
crested geckos
dart frogs

if worse comes to worse, what i will do is just get a bunch of crickets like every 2nd day, because even me, a while ago i really wanted to get bearded dragons, they look awesome, and i held an adult at a pet store, very nice.

ok, let me see if i got this right..

for a beardie or 2..

- veggies available at all times?
- crickets every second day(that ok?)

also, what about this..

- veggies always available
- pellets always available
- crickets a few times a week
- one of the meal type wors for treats?

lol sorry, i forgot all what i read in the care sheets a while ago, lol..

someone also please tell me how those beardie pellets are? and if its ok for just veggies and pellets? i'm not sure how that works, lol..

hmm a cresite would be good because when their young they eat like 2 crickets a day.....dont put too many crickets in at a time to because they can eat the crestie..(funny but true)..also if this is her first reptiles maybe a chameleon wouldn't be good....a beardie is good but they eat alot...i would probably go with the crestie....Connor...also..what i have which is good a leaf tail gecko..they eat about 3 crickets a day when their young and then like 4-5 when their older....crestie or leaf tail

Your better off with the crestie. The beardies may not do so well in one of those enclosures nor would they need the waterfall. Cresties would would love the falls. At night I would see mine in them all the time. I even added a fogger to it on a timer and it was some really nice effects.

OH, lol this post is from like 2 weeks ago, we decided to get a beardie, i am going to make a custom cage for it, with a desert type set up, but i dont think i will use sand though, cause i hear to many bad things about keeping lizards on sand, maybe reptile carpet..
