View Full Version : snake poo
Ok well i got my BCI just over a month ago, 5 weeks today actually, i didn't feed her the first 2 weeks. During those first two weeks she shed. after that i offered her a small mouse rat (60-70% of her girth)which she quickly inhaled. the fallowing week after i had been able to make a trip to the pet store to buy more rats i fed her one of the smaller ones. i'd say about 100-110% of her girth (give or take 5%). Again she downed the meal no problem. now it is time to feed her again. However she still hasn't taken a poop in the 5 weeks.....is that normal? My BP goes at least once a week
i wouldnt worry too much, sometimes my boas feed and dont go for 3-4 weeks, but they always go eventually, try giving her a bath, works every time for me:)
cool thanks for the advice, should i wait for her to crap before feeding her again tho?
my snake has sh*t on me every time
i think she does it on purpose
but really she goes about three to four
days after eating
ill be holding her and such she slithers
here and there and then sh*ts
usually on me
LOL but true

dont worry about it... boas have a slow metabolism... same story with mine... bath is a good idea too, put her in a tupperware or a rubbermaid with warm/luke water and leave her in there for an hour or so... but keep the water warm tho, dont let it get too cold. after an hour she should take a crap. do NOT do it after u feed her, not in the nearest 2 days, shell mostlikely regurgitate. give her a bath, if she poops, put her back in the cage let her chill for an hour and give her a treat ;). if she doesnt poop, you could still feed her imo.
good luck

my boas go every 4 or 5 weeks as well. and went they do boy do they let go.a months worth of rabbits is ALOT lol. on a side note i wish my blue beauties would crap only every 5 weeks or longer for that matter lol.....:medpuke: that stuff is the rankest stuff in the hobby..
I wouldn't worry too much. Boa constrictors aren't poop machines... thank goodness for that! :p Bathing won't hurt, nor would I recommend it at this stage. They do tend to poop, but often I believe it is more a reaction to stress. I don't believe that handling will always yeild the 'stress-poop' (though it certainly does sometimes  ), I think it often aids in getting everything up and moving around :toilet:

Don't forget also, that warm to us is hot to snake. Our core temperature is 10-20 degrees below what they usually are, so you have to be careful not to overheat them.
