View Full Version : I have questions about the calgary show coming up.
Ok, for the first time I am able to go to a reptile show, because I am going to calgary anyway, i can go any time i want so i decided to go during the period of time while the show is going on..
but I have some questions about the show please.
1: Can someone give me a website link for info on the show?
2: You can buy reptiles there too right?
3: If I am going just to look around and buy a few things, maybe some herps, you guys do i have to call before going to reserve a ticket or something? O.o
4: if I buy any herps there, is it safe to bring them back on the plane to montreal?
please let me know, thanks

There are 3 calgary shows, 2 TARAS ones and another one.
I'm not sure about the webpage for the TARAS ones, but www.reptileshowandsale.com has information about 1 Calgary one. The webpage will be updated as soon as more information is available.
You can buy reptiles at all of the shows in Alberta, and if you are flying with Air Canada, you can arrange to have them go on the same plane (but in the cargo hold, pack like you were shipping it)

I believe you are refering to the TARAS spring Show & Sale. Reptiles will be for sale & tickets are available at the door for everyone. Go to the shows & sales section at http://www.cornelsworld.com/forum/ & you can see all the info about the sales coming up in western Canada this year, there will be more shows than ever before in 2005. Cheers Mark
P.S. be sure to say Hi I'll be the big long hair at the Gone Snakee! table right beside Kunimoto Reptiles.

Also on shipping them, you pretty much have to prebook a day in advance & be prepared to package them properly for a possible unheated cargo hold. They won't be along with you as lugguage they will be freight & will go thru that area of the airline which is entirely differnt then the whole passenger gig, meaning you will have to drop them off & pick them up at different terminals at the airport than you will be using as a passenger. Mark
hmm, well once i get my tickets to go to calgary i will have 2, 2 way tickets, so what do you mean pre book? i thought about getting a snake or 2, not sure though, i hear the prices are good, thanks for the info, more welcome :D

Pre Book freight IE: Herps, they must be shipped as freight, they are not allowed as carryon or lugguage. Mark

Futhermore in case you still don't understand fully. The location where you ship freight from is a couple miles from the passenger terminal & Calgary to Montreal is going to cost you approx $100+ for shipping them back in freight charges. Along with unheated cargo holds you may also have stopovers along the way for them between Calgary & Montreal & Air Canada will make you sign a waiver to cover themselves in case everything dies. Westjet maybe shipping by then (they & AC are the only 1's) & they would be approx $70+. If you are serious about trying to take Herps back I would suggest talking to the West Jet & Air Canada Live Animal Shipping people first to avoid hassles & disappointments. Hate to see ya buy Herps ya can't get back home. Shipping Herps ain't always simple. Mark
P.S. Air Canada Cargo #'s 1-800-387-4865 Toronto (403)221-2600 Vancouver (even though its a Calgary local #) (403)221-2614 Calgary I would talk directly to the Calgary people to make an actual booking (if you do) as if you do it thru TO or Van they don't always let Calgary know in advance. Don't have any West Jet #'s handy sorry!
