I have been thinking about this the last couple of days and just wondering if someone can answer it - so I can stop wondering...

If a female already has eggs and lets say she is going to lay them tomorrow. If a male is put with her today, and successfully breeds. When she lays them tomorrow will they be fertile?

If you mean the female was not fertile the day before she had the eggs then the you put the male and they bred succesfully.. its not possible for there to be baby's it's not possible for the sperm to develop that quickly..

Nope, mating today won't result in tomorrow's eggs being fertile. Once the shell is made, the egg is complete, fertilization can't occur in that egg anymore. It takes a few days to weeks to apply the shell (varies with species, I can't recall how long leos take). This means the egg (not the egg that's laid, but the one-celled egg from the ovary) has to be fertilized long before the finished egg (the shelled egg) sees the light of day.

yea get ready gor duds :( but expect the first few eggs of a females first breeding season to be duds even if the male is in the tank for a long time. I know I have a few duds from first time breeders relatively often.
