snakes that are most active during the day

What are the most active snakes during the day? I want to get a snake, but most sleep all day. I am looking for one that is extremely active during the day and is suitable for a first snake. I have a little lizard experience with over a year old albino leopard gecko.

From your post above, I'd say a Corn or King snake would be a pretty good place to start!

For a beginner a corn snake is best (as most ppl would say) but when they are young they won't come out often. As they get older they will come out a lot though.

Ive found my gopher snake is out a lot and very active. It may be because hes still checking out the enclosure but even the bull snake at the store I work at is VERY active :)

They are good beginner snakes imo. They eat well and the husbandry is very easy as well as similar to a corn.

corn snakes are supposidly nocturnal although I have found a lot of info stating opposite.

Eastern indigos, gophers, and garters are diurnal.

I find that these can be as easy as corn snakes. My corns are all more active at night.

Corn snakes are great first snakes, but I'd hardly say they are active and diurnal.

Many kings do seem to be diurnal, and they are pretty easy to care for as a first snake. They are active when hungry (which is most of the time).

Garter snakes are quite active and very much diurnal. At least the ones I've dealt with are. They are certainly decent first snakes.

Pituophis (gophers, pines and bulls) are pretty much diurnal, but not nearly as active as garters. They can be intimidating as a first snake because they are fairly defensive when young. A lot of it is bluff though so they can be handled if you dont mind the occasional strike.

Indigos and cribos are diurnal but pretty expensive, and probably not the best for a beginner.

There are others that are diurnal and active, but nothing else comes to mind that is also easy to handle. Coachwhips for example would not make a great first snake. I'm sure there's something I've left out though.

A nice garter is probably a good bet.
