I know this has been asked a thousand times. I am looking for a cam for around the $300-$400 mark. I would like a cam that can take good close up shots (ex head shots).. Just curious what everyone uses here there are tons of stunning pics..
I use a Kodak 4600. It does the trick, and I payed 500 bucks, but I think the price has dropped to 400 now. We really like ours, and it is easy to use, without a ton of confusing options.

you might try Ebay, i suggest getting the highest megapixal you can find and a macro feature. spot focus would be handy too.
3+megapixals is good but i'm not sure you can find a decent one for 400$ as their other features may be lacking.
I'm using a Sony Mavica CD-300 but you probably won't find it for 400 CAD.

I use a Kodak Dx3500. It's 2.2 MP and was about 250. It takes beautiful pictures so I imagine some of the higher end DX cameras are even better.
I have a Kodak DX 3700 and agree heartily with Alicewave. My main criticism is that it tends to skew the colors towards red and yellow when using indoor lighting. Borrowing a reptile bulb from one of my cages solved that concern pretty well.

Canon Powershot A40 is $350.00 - $399.99 now in canadian funds and is hands down the best camera you will find in that price range. It is also readily available at almost all department and electronics stores in canada, futureshop included. If you want the best bang for your buck for for the A40.. it also does video and all that other stuff to. Here is a link for henrys.ca
I totally forgot about the A40!! It is an awesome camera, I agree with Jeff 100%. If you develop any pics from this camera, the pics turn out AWESOME!!

Before I bought I viewed the zdnet reviews. I choose the editors pick a Minolta S404, a 4 megapixel just under $500 USD. I'm very happy with the photo quality and ease of use. Read reviews on the different models, they usually provide both positive and negative points of the model and and abstract explaining the qualities of each. JMHO

I use a Fuji Film Fine Pix 1400 Zoom 1.3 mega pixal. It has awesome macro shots and I just love it the picture I posted in the newbie section was taken with said camera. My husband uses this camera on DP Challenge which is a photography forum.
But any way just wanted to reply. I will include a pic of my "Abee"

I personally don't use this cam I have an old Kodak Digi from the days when the cheapest you could get anything was $1000 bucks and I don't have the heart to chuck it and buy a better one.
However this cam is listed on many web comparisons and the like.
Thanks
Charles
I would recommend the Canon A40. It can be found for $379.99 or less now. Although I dont own one, I have looked at the pictures most of the people here post, and Linds has really amazing pics (look in the photography forum). For this price, you really cant go wrong.
