The ending makes the whole movie....I never saw it coming (haha it's a pun!)
Seriously though, great plot conception, the script writing left something to be desired.
The acting also left somethign to be desired. Even with the cornball lines, I still thought it was a good movie. The ending was spectacular.

Yeah I agree, some of the acting was cheezie but it was still wicked. I think I'm gonna buy it too. Munchy, it just came out on DVD today.

it was good but I personally thought the ending was lame. I don't wanna ruin it for everyone but c'mon.. considering his condition how could the killer overpower anyone except old ladies and kids? The premise was good though.

Yeah, once you've already seen it the only reason to buy it is to make your family and friends watch it...
I know a lot of people said the ending was stupid, but I thought it was perfect :D

Wonder if it hit the states yet, finally? I tried renting it a week ago and Blockbuster said its not in yet. :(
I hear though it wipes the butts off The Grudge and I also hear its better than the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But I'm goin' by rumors. Anyone care to clear that up? :D

I hated TCM, the new and old one...(they killed off Eric Balfour!!! :( ) Watching a guy run around and chase people with a chainsaw didn't do it for me, and hillbillies aren't that frightening...
But I loved the Grudge, both versions... it's way scary. It's completely different though, I don't know if you can really compare them. Saw has REALLY cool scary moments, stuff that I haven't seen before... it's also much more disturbing :D BOTH of them kept me up at night though...
One of the better horor flics in years, two thumbs up for me!
A must see...
Just "saw" it last night and though the acting did leave a lot to be desired (Carey Elwes) the movie itself, with it's limited budget and shooting time (just 18 days) was a wonderfully original idea and kept me glued to my seat. The ending was amazing. I'll add that after watching that crapbag of a movie "The Grudge" it remewed my faith in horrors.

What 18 Days!?! That's insane, I didn't know that. That just bumped it up a level in my books.
Slannesh:
I don't wanna ruin it for anybody either, but in the end, he didn't over power anyone.
Asian Jon:
Keep on diggin! LOL!

So sorry Jessica, I meant -canniballistic- hilbillies...

I went in to our local convenience store, and headed for the movie rack to see if they had it. The girl working, came up to me and asked me if I liked hore movies. I asked her to repeat herself, and again she said hore. She grabbed Saw, and then I knew she meant horror.
I'd have rented it, but thier DVD's of it were out, and I have standing late charges I would have had to pay to rent it.
I liked the new Texas Chain Saw massacre (and the old ones, all of them), and we have not seent the Grudge yet, but I really like the weird spooky movies that are a bit different. Got lots of older obscure horror stuff that is weird, Vulgar the clown, last house on the left... these 2 sound like something I might really like.

I just SAW the movie. Pretty good, but I must say the acting was a bit cheezy, just like the bag of Cheetos I was eating while I was watching it.
Craig, I didn't see you tonight. You must have known I knew Karate so you chickened out :D hehe...

Don't get me wrong... I liked the movie... but the killer would have had to overpower the 'victims' to get them in the situations they were in. The Doc and the Photographer especially and I just don't see it. That's really the only plot point I really hated about the movie.
I mean if it's a monster I can live with it being superfast or super strong... but if it's supposed to be just a guy? Then I expect at least somewhat realistic stuff.

02-18-05, 10:19 AM
The movie was great!
And he wouldnt have to overpower any of them, he could have drugged them or just hit them in the head or something. They never said anything about superfast or superstrong. Thats what made it so great to me, because I'm just tired of the stupid monsters and ghost movies (the grudge, Jeepers creepers, ect.)
Ahhh I just rented Saw for tonight... cant wait to see it :D
I liked the psycological aspect of the movie, the way he toyed with his victims, the mental torture and all...
Nevermind the acting, the special effects, this psycho horor flics was well written...
The ending was great, if this was real, this poor guy would still be in there!
Game over!

He could have used a tazer to subdue his victums.........that's what I do......err..I mean would do.
This would explain their blking out. TB
HumphreyBoagart
02-18-05, 07:32 PM
Exactly, I don't want to ruin any of it, but he didn't have to overpower anyone. He either got the victims to do it to the other victims or drugged them or hit them over the head with a blunt object or something, hence the amnesia. I thought it was wicked, even with the cheezie acting. Sometimes the cheezie acting adds an element of humour to it as well. Every cheezie horror of all time is cheezie, hence the name.
Hump.
I saw it, it was an amazingly interesting movie! :)
The ending was so incredibly disturbing to me...It was by far the best horror movie I've ever seen. I think I had my face buried in my boyfriend's shoulder for a third of it! I highly recommend it (even with the sometimes cheesy acting).

I've seen it twice...the first time I was completely confused! The second time it made more sense. I just don't get the doll. LOL
Lol, the doll added a creepy feeling to the over all movie. Very nice. He was a very interesting person, was he not?

He had issues, but he was basically just bitter and wanted other's to feel his pain.
Lol, I he just wanted to have people appreciate there life, I think that was what the creator of the movie wanted as well....
watched it last night and what an awesome movie.

I think he just wanted people to appreciate their lives...
Yeah or that, either one works. LOL
Lol, wouldnt it suck to be that fat guy in the movie who had to climb through that wire? Ouch!
Gonna watch it tonight!! It's gotta be better than The Grudge, that was one of the lamest movies I've seen in a long time, and i've seen a lot of crappy movies!! LOL!!
Dave
Oh yeah, much better than the grudge by far!

okie dokie.
just watched Saw. that was by far the most twisted movie i have seen in a while. really messes with your head. besides some of the bad acting, this has to be one of the better horror movies ive seen. and i've seen ALOT of horror movies. this one was a who-done-it type of movie, heh, kinda like scream, but minus 3 thirds of the blood.
rating: 8-10

here we go. im going to be different to the rest of you.
saw was ok i suppose. i was hoping to be a little scared but unfortunately wasnt.
i didnt know that it was shot in 18 days though. that goes in its favour.
maybe im not right in the head which is why it didnt scare me:D
my family thought it was good though.
now, one hour photo is quite a good film.
robin williams shows what a versatile actor he is.
HumphreyBoagart
02-26-05, 03:47 PM
I agree, I don't really think it was a "scary" movie, but more of a twisted psychological who-done-it.
I really liked one hour photo too, made me never want to get pictures developed again! : )

I "SAW" it last night!!! I thought it was great!!!!!!
I dunno what would of been worse, the guy throught the wire, or mabye the reverse bear trap!
What was your favorite, "trap"?
HumphreyBoagart
02-26-05, 07:16 PM
They were all good, but I liked the guy covered in flammable stuff, and given a candle to see the million different possible combinations to the lock written all over the walls.

I purposly avoided this thread so I would go into the movie without any clue. I must say that movie was twisted. It was a great ending, I thought I solved it all but man was I wrong. What are the chances of a sequel?
HumphreyBoagart
02-27-05, 12:12 AM
Oh there will probably be a sequel but they usually suck anyways!
