Hey everyone I've got a couple of question concerning a couple of my eggs.
The first is one of the eggs laid last week has started to look slimy and just today it started to grow some really nice orange stuff on it. I'm guessing that it is infertile but its clutchmate(other egg) seems to be doing fine. I guess my questions are should I keep it in with the good eggs until its definitely not good or move it? and does that ever happen with one egg being good and the other not? Its one of my females second clutches the first eggs looked really good until late last week which leads me to my next question.
These eggs were laid on January 18th and they have looked good and seemed to be growing well until last week when one of them started to cave a bit. I checked the amount of water in the vermiculite and it was a bit low so I added more water. It still hasn't filled out which has me worrying a bit. Does it normally take awhile for the egg to reflate(I think I just made that word up)? or could it be that it is also infertile after almost a month of looking fine?
These were the females first two clutches so I was thinking that may also be playing a role.

Thanks for any input

I don't know much about cresties but most other eggs "cave in" a bit prior to hatching. Yes it is possible for one to be fertile and one not to be. Just leave the moldy one in there too. It could be fine, the embryo doesn't feed off of whats on the outside of the egg, it feeds on the yolk. Good Luck with the youngins!

Andy If the eggs had been growing then of course they were fertile, infertile eggs will not grow. As for the dimple in it just make sure their is the proper amount of water with the vermiculite and it should be fine. Humphrey, If the eggs were laid on january 18th they are no where near hatching/
I would personally throw the moldy egg out, It will not hatch, but if the other eggs are healthy than it wont effect them. I just personally would.

Hey Andy, you shouldn't have orange stuff growing on an egg. Personally I would take it out, but if you want to still try to hatch it you should definately remove the other one without the stuff growing on it and place it in its own new container. Did you say the other one (not the one with orange stuff growing on it) dimpled? If it's only been a month I would expect that it is infertile but I would still let it ride, may as well for the little effort needed to incubate them. I have read of an egg being fertile and the other not I believe, and that is the extent of my knowledge. Oh ya, and it's definately not unheard of for a female's first couple of clutches to be infertile. Hope others can patent my info or support it or correct it. Take care buddy.
