We all I am sure had a couple we debated about sending, but in the end lost out. What are your seconds and thirds that didn't get submitted?
Here are a couple of my "also-rans"

I pondered about sending this one because it was a more natural shot

And the last I thought about.

Hey great feeding pic Bartman. I think that pic would have done well in the contest.
<--- my avatar (for balls). Or for cornsnakes, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v409/Spiriit/Animals/Max/160_6009_cr.jpg
I have so many pictures that people joke to me about entering in a contest though, someday maybe I will! lol

Thinking back on it I should have sent this one in.

This is one of my favorites I didn't think it would do well because of the lighting but I think thats what makes it interesting. I just love the expression on Daisy's face!

Those are all great... I especially like the cornsnake one Spirit!
I didn't enter at all actually... No one wanted to cooperate and do anything cute for me! Little buggers!

Thank you. That's my Max! I have a few "calendar pics" of him... he's SUCH a ham. :)

I didn't submit this gray treefrog shot.

or this spotted python (eating my finger).
http://img106.exs.cx/img106/2065/feeding9ux.jpg
I opted instead for a squirrel treefrog. Hopefully we'll see it in the top ten thread (I can hope;)) but if not then I'll post it here. *crosses fingers*

Spirit, did you take those pictures with the A70 yo mentioned in the other thread?? They are really good!! Way better than I seem to be able to get.
Anyways, back on topic. I thought about entering this one.

Taken with my A75, and probably the best shot I've ever gotten.

Took one last crack at some pics and managed to get three decent ones... One of which I sent in.
I would have sent in this first one if it had actually been in focus :)
http://142.179.213.120/slannesh/geckos/shocker/2005_02_15_Shocker02L.jpg
And this one would have been better in focus and with a better angle as well as a half second earlier before I actually took it :)

Cameras are only as good as the cameraman.
I take ALL my pics with my little $200 Canon A70 (it was $599 CAD when it was new). It has FULL manual, FULL automatic, and 12 dummy modes (landscape, night mode, photo mode, aperture value, time value, etc) which allows me to set one feature as automatic and I can manually change another one to suit my needs.
My friends dad has a very high end digital camera (I believe it's a nikon) that cost roughly $9000, and I can take just as good picture with my little $200 one. Granted I'm missing some features like a large optical zoom or that new "stabilizer" thingamabob, but my point is you can get BEAUTIFUL pics with the right camera, and it's going to be a tough sell to pull me away from the Canon. Great lenses, GREAT price, full control...
I love my camera. This is another of my favorite animal pics.
This duck followed me around the WHOLE zoo "cooing" at me. I wanted to take her home. hehe

Don't get me started... photography is my hobby. I can paste pics all day. lol
I didn't submit any photos as I would only be getting a prize from myself and the other mods. LMAO But here is a collection of pics I have taken with my newer camera. Some better some o.k.

Might have submitted this one or one like it but just snapped this a week or so ago and had already submitted another.
I especially like the tiny little "aphid".
She would (quickly)gape her jaws but in this position I never got a good "open mouth" like I wanted.

Amazing Matt!
I've seen the full sized picture (without copyright info, lol), and that is about the best herp picture I have ever seen, in my opinion.
Us members should hold a contest for the mods - the prize can be whatever Matt likes, if he enters that picture.
Too bad the mods couldn't have entered this one, I'd have voted for that picture over my submission.

has far as your camera Matt, you may think it's nothing fancy (as opposed to SLR's etc), but I find my Kodak EasyShare CX6230 to take some of the most amazing pictures.. those cameras have beautiful colors and take nice sharp pictures.. I've seen cameras way more expensive than mine take pictures with colors messed up, etc... I really like my Kodak.. I'd really like to get and SLR though, but that's just out of reach for me yet... in a couple of years, maybe the prices will have reached something acceptable for my budget.. all the money is going on snakes heh :-)
excellent pictures everyone... I think my odds of winning anything is getting rather slim.. after seeing all the pictures that was NOT submitted, I'm thinking the ones submitted must be awesome!! I can't wait to see them :-)

Yep, this is all way out of my league!

I actually loathe the Kodak cameras because the pictures always seem to have a yellowish/green hue to them (bad lenses), but that frog pic... ironic that it's all green (LOL), but WOW... AMAZING pic, Matt. :D
Thanks Spirit, your comments are much appreciated..
While I do enjoy the ease of use on my Kodak, I am looking into unloading it and purchasing something newer.
-Matt
Kodaks are all pretty easy to use for sure, but I find that they use crappy lenses and cheapish housing (the cameras themselves seem cheaply built to me, and have NO weight to them).
Not that I want to diss Kodaks... I've always said the camera is only as good as the cameraman...
What are you planning to get? You seem to have a good eye for photography...
