Hi everyone, I will not tell a long story to bore you all, but for a while I was not able to continue our snake keeping hobby.

But now everything is 100%!

I have to ask something.

I am looking to get my next snake after ALOT of research, but I live in montreal quebec, and there are not many places to get snakes here in montreal.

The problem is the only place I know is a certain reptile shop, that usually the snakes there look sick, so I am hoping to find some sort of breeder in montreal only, I will not have it shipped! lol.

anyway, to who it would concern, these are the snakes I would be interested in, that I have been studying (sp?) on.

Albino burmese
Blood python
amazon tree boa
jungle carpet python
iran jaya carpet python

if there are any breeders in montreal that has any of these at this time please email me

lord_boltizor@hotmail.com

thank you.

Just wondering why you would not want to have a snake shipped? It is deffinitely going to limit your options..

Hmm, well a few reasons.

1: the weather right now.
2: the fact of a snake being in a box for that long.
3: Is it really possible for it to arrive live 100%? O.o

lol, sorry for sounding stupid..

OK to help you out with your shipping phobia;
1. The weather is alright to ship in, as long as heated cargo is used. Heat packs and proper packaging (which most any reputable breeder can do properly) will ensure that the snake stay the temps that are required for the duration of the trip.
2. If the proper temps can be maintained, there is no reason that a snake cannot be "in a box" for the time it would take to be shipped to you.
3. Again, any reputable breeder will ensure that the animal arrives 100% healthy.

Exactly what Mykee said..

Just to let you know a little over a year ago i had 3 ball pythons shipped to me when it was like -15 celsius, they arrived safe, and warm, even after aircanada had a screw up, and the snakes were 4-5 hours late. As long as the shipper does a good job with packing, and heat paks, everything will be fine.

You are right I am not doubting you at all, it did bother me, but then when I think of one of the only places near me where i can get snakes, I am discusted.

As everyone said above, you can usually feel confident if the snake is packed up properly. If you are still completely against the idea of shipping, you can check the SsnakesS.com classifieds for people in Montreal selling snakes, but that limits your options severely, restricting what and who you can buy from.

If you do decide to ship, I would check out the seller on the Canadian Board of Inquiry, as the packing job is ONLY as reliable as the shipper.

Good luck :)

Iceman,

There are more breeders then you think in Montreal, no need to go to the scummy shops...

A good start might be the Montreal Herpetological Society, which hold its monthly meetings every 1st Wednesday of the month, you would make tons of contacts there...

Its breeding and egg season right now, you can expect to find most of everything on your list in the next few months...

Thanks for the reply marc, good to talk to you again.

And boa's and pythons, those are cool pic's, I always wondered how the boxes are prepped to ship, lol..

I don't know, if it is possible to get one of the snakes that I want from a breeder somewhere else in canada, I will, also, depending on a few things, I would also buy a yearling(if it's a blood it would have to be docile, lol)

So I will refraise(sp?) it, if any breeders in canada have any snake on my list right now, let me know ;)..

also, marcB, what breeds will be hatching at your place that will be for sale? I would probably buy a few from you when they hatch(1 at a time of course ;)

The only thing we worry about is that we send the money and the snake does not get sent.

As for the shipping issue, I also used to be afraid to have a herp shipped. But I just ordered my first online snake and if it arrives safely and healthy, I will have no more fear of herp shipping...:)

If I feared that, I could never have most of my animals, although I started with mine from shows in Alberta, it is cheaper to ship now :D

actually what my main problem is the airport is far from my house, and it is hard to find a way to get there, lol.

seeing is that I don't drive.

But I am sure if I figure out how to get to the airport(taxi, what ever) I will be ordering from either jeff favelle or henri pioron(sp?)
