View Full Version : recession
If the government gets there way and causes the country to drop into a recession, how do you feel it will effect the bp industry? will the lower economics play any role in herping?

A recession is when my neighbour can't afford a Ball Python.
A depression is when I can't afford a Ball Python.
exactly, my point. How will the Canadian market hold up if this happens.

The US market seemed to do ok through the last few years of recession here. Hard to say how it would have done without it. Sad to say but it might have actually helped the market. The under employed and under paid are looking for side businesses to improve income, often financed on credit. Of course you got to figure good times would be better with more disposable income but maybe the recession didn't hurt the ball industry as much as you might have expected.

Recession, what recession? Honestly if you've got money, you'll still have money, if you don't you still will have the same, prices will stay about the same, you'll be fine :)

Recession, what recession?
Must be nice...
I'm making 37% less than I was a few years ago but consider myself darn lucky to still have a job in the computer industry but that was quite possibly the one worst hit. It was overdone before the recession so had a lot of correcting to do. Now it's finally getting better with more want ads and less of them with ridiculously low wages (i.e. programmer with 10 years experience in a language that's only been around 5 years for $10/hr no benefits).
Not trying to ripple the pond here but why limit your market to Canada?

I also wouldn't call it a recession. A recession is more global, you’re talking about one sector of the market. You can't compare IT of 8 years ago to IT of today, it's just not even close to the same anymore. The .com boom was a peak and there was no way any business would be able to maintain that peak forever, so it fell, the way IT was before was insane and for anyone to expect it to stay that way was naive. Either way although it did have some effect on the Canadian market I really doubt I would use the word recession to describe the state of the marketplace right now.
Wait for it!
With our current dollar strength, the canadian government will force the country into a recession to lower the dollar and improve trade equity with the US.

The Canadian BP market is soooo TINY, why even worry about. Its but a speck on dust in the deserts of herpetoculture........... LOL!
Plus, the people that are spending the big bucks on BP morphs are gonna spend the bick bucks anyways. They are investing in BP's to MAKE MONEY. If they need to make money MORE so because of receding income, then they'll be even more aggressive in their purchases.

I'm getting into a computer school next year (ITT) and they say that the industry is booming again. Either way it looks like it's going to be a fun ride :)
