Lets see some pics of your pueblan milks, now that there are plenty of hondo morphs, at a affordable price pueblans aren't as popular. I know a few of you have pueblans here, and I wanna see um :)

Here she is a few months ago.

Her red sure came in nicely :)
How old is she now? I'm trying to get an idea how to judge age by size (knowing full well that it's a useless idea).

Here's a picture of one of the new ones I got last weekend. He/she is still too jumpy to risk taking pictures outside the enclosure.

Have to disagree on hondos being ugly - but I am very biased - they are my favorites -- but you do have some pretty Pueblans - love the wide white collar on your female.

It certainly is nice to see some pics of other milksnake species besides Hondos -

thanks for sharing,

Hi!

Here are my two Pueblans:

The female

The male
http://galeria.snakes.pl/photos/campbelli02.jpg

They both were supposed to be apricot - but the female didn't get the colors as nice as the male, but still has something interesting :)

Best regards

Lukasz

Here's a shot of a little guy who won't sit still.
You think he's going to and just as you snap the shutter, he bolts!

Here's a few from my gallery. I posted them a couple weeks back.
I've been breeding them for years, but took a couple years off when they crashed at $30.US as my US broker wouldn't take them anymore.
There is a market for them in Canada however, so I'll be back in production this year.
I prefer the high contrast red, black and white ones.
I find Apricots start really pretty but they don't hold that color. You'll note a picture of two of my siblings below sid by side from about 5 or 6 years ago. One is a beautiful apricot, but its also pictured in this group as an adult.. can you figure out which one it is?

A tiny little boy trying his best to off a dead pinky  , then the closest thing I have to a non-blurry pic of the little spaz.

Wow! I will have to snag myself a male from Vern Ruml or from someone at the Red Deer Show :) All of your pueblans look so nice!

Stockwell - Do you sell your snakes to petstores? I'm sure you could get a decent amount from them, seeing how in manitoba they cost around 200$ in the strores.

They're all the same species, but so much difference between individuals, and I can't decide which one(s) I like best.
Just curious, but are there any Pueblans showing more yellow than apricot? I thought I saw a picture somewhere online claiming to show a pueblan with bright yellow where the white normally is.

Super nice snakes guys!! Roy, I love that wide white banded one!

thanks Katt!
Hilde, I have hatched them with yellow bands, but these are generally their baby colors. I have never seen an adult with the light band being yellow.
Pueblans like most milks look the very best the day they hatch. As they grow and mature the color shifts somewhat and the light band which may be yellow or Apricot usually fades and acquires some degree of black tipping.
Many generations of selective breeding has refined the color and symmetry in some lines of pueblans.
Specimens with a wide first white band over the head and nape have been coined "sock heads" but this trait is hit and miss and doesn't breed true.
I have been trying to reduce the black tipping, to produce nicer white, red and black snakes. I'm also going for more even symmetrical bands, with fewer missing red bands. Pueblans are almost never born with perfect bands, and many are missing the odd red band.
Some guys have even bred for this elimination of the red, calling the result Oreo Pueblans since they are mostly black and white.
Personally I don't see the point of this as the light band gets muddy with tipping and they never look half as nice as a good cal king, so why bother, but to each their own.
I must say there are few hatchling snakes that can bug my eyes out like a big clutch of pipping campbelli.. and that hatchling beauty is the only reason I still keep them. The fact they will have multiple clutches in a season, also means you get to see that splash of color in the incubator more than once..

When I picke dout my girl this summer the breeder had "oreo" pueblans in the cluth too. Mines seems to be getting bright, rather then duller.

This is my little girl, my very first snake. Let me tell you, she's MUCH calmer than she was as a musky, whippy little baby, but she's still HARD to get still enough to photograph!!! ;)
