Small aboreal gecko

I was wondering if anyone has ideas for a small aboreal gecko. I like the Helmeted geckos, but is there anything along the same size (3"-5" max) out there that are easy to take care of?? It looks like most of the small geckos like Helmets require same care as a Leopard gecko. Just wondering. Even suggestionsof neat smaller geckos would be appreciated :)

Non-handling, just look at types? Daygeckos (Phelsuma) fit that easily. If you want something around 3", then look into Lygodactylus. They're not as common but still cute little suckers, and can be kept like P. laticauda (Gold Dust Day Gecko).

I recommend crcodile geckos. They are awesome little geckos.

golden geckos are also a good, inexpensive option. like day geckos, they shouldnt really be handled much due to their sensitive skin, but they are nice to look at. they do well in groups.

Cresties would be nice, but they might be too big for what you're asking for. My vote goes also with the day geckos, you can get some really nice small species, like Gold Dust Day Geckos, and they can do well in 1.3 colonies. Another suggestion is smaller leaf tails such as the satanics (Uruplatus phantasticus), you'll be spending a few hundred dollars on these guys, but they're fascinating, althooough they are nocturnal, I think you want a diurnal species, so that cuts out cresties as well.

LOL well noctural is no problem, I am up till 12 to 2am almost everyday. Cost isn't really important, as long as it's under $100 and I can get reasonable price for offspring. I am leaning more to different geckos like the helmeted or Tanzanian Forest gecko was cool too. I like the Viper geckos too. Day geckos and cresties aren't my thing. I can't find many pics of crocodile geckos or accurate caresheets so jury still out on them.

I am looking for geckos that are ok at room temp (75°F) or better. Geckos that require cooler environments all the time are going to be difficult for me to keep. I do somewhat like the Satanic Leaf tails, but you would require a fogger most likely to keep humidity high enough and temps cool enough.

Out of curiosity, what do some of you that keep geckos like the Satanic leaf tails do to keep temps down and humidity high? I am betting moistened moss substrate would work for the humidity, but I have an apartment, so temp is an issue. I don't have a nice cool basement for them.

I just got Satanics just over a week ago and I don't use a fogger and I'm in dry Calgary. I have a humidifier going almost 24/7 and I spray them down 2 or 3 times a week and I keep humidity above 75 usually around 80. I keep them in a natural set up in a 29 gallon tank with a screen top. When I am not home I cover up the top about half way and when I am I take it off for better ventilation and check the humidity every couple hours. I'm in an apartment as well and temps aren't an issue yet. We are transferring into a basement sweet soon for the summer so hopeuflly it won't be a problem them, cause it's a basement!

Australian Velvet geckos. Oedura monilis is the most common species available, although you may be able to find O. castelnaui or possibly other species. They're great little geckos but surprisingly aren't too common. I have a couple of pics of one of my O. castelnaui in my gallery.

Is that a regular humidifier?? Ones that you use for a human?

Yea. Some 30 dollar doo-hicky from Wal-mart. Mind you, new filters cost 12 bucks, that's where they get ya! But it gets my room humidity up to around 60 which is a good base for a high humidity gecko. If I didn't have it running I'm sure I'd be struggling to keep the humidity up.

I might have to try that. Edmonton is pretty dry sometimes. I am eventually going to get an air purifier too.
