Is there any other places to find spagnum or java moss other than a pet/fish store? I can't seem to find any here in Calgary and I have been phoning around all day! Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

nursery?
sphagnum is used lots in hanging baskets, so its pretty common. java im assuming you want live? most nursery/garden centres will carry it....lots of grocery stores carry it here. seems liek a 50/50 chance of them having either java or club...im nto sure the difference but im sure there is one.

There's a place on Macleod Trail... just off Canyon Meadows SW ... I can't remember the exact name... but they usually have it there. It's a big plant and flower nursery or somthing like that...

crazy4reptiles i think that the place your talking about is called someting <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=gold&v=56">gold</a> plant nursery or something, i may be wrong though, my mind is a bit rusty and i moved bak to ottawa 5 years ago but i know exactly the place your talking about. Also, i know for sure you can find sphagnum moss at canadian tire and <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=home&v=56">home</a> depot in the flower/gardening section.
Thanks,
Ben
You are probably referring to Greengate Garden Centre. They probably have moss in stock but in smallish bags.
I grow the odd orchid as well as raising critters, and buy quite a bit of spagnum moss in large bags from Rona on McLeod Tr., just by Wallmart and Southland Drive. It runs around 10 or 12 dollars per bag, and the bags are quite a bit bigger than I have been able to find elsewhere.
They also sell vermiculite at a good price if you should need any, now that breeding season is upon us.

Well...I tried both Canadian Tire and Rona/Revy and nothin'...BUT the girl working at Rona said that she saw that Petland just got a new shipment in...so I tried and there was tonnes!! Now...probably a stupid question...what do I do with it? Do I just kind of break it up and then spray it with water to keep it moist? Do I need to put it in some sort of container with water in it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys~!

I just put some in a dish or somthing, then use my spray bottle to get it moist... as for where I place it... for my snakes... I just pack it in one of their hides......
