What is this little guy?? I found him roaming in my room....I didn't buy him. No clue where he came from. He's a little cutie...but what is he. I assumed he's a sand boa but wasn't sure. The dime in the pic is for reference to see how small he really is. Thanks for all the help.

Looks to be a Kenyan Sand boa. Nice find.

Thats a kenyan sand boa forsure but he looks DAMN skinny. Id get some food into him asap, keep him away from your other animals incase he has any diseases, and if you can get him to a vet to get checked out.

Thats so weird you found him in your house. Must have been thrown away by some idiot. Poor little guy.

Just to ad Bartman:

Get him a moist hide and a small waterbowl, so that he can get hydreted again.

He's been drinking water all morning..... just went and got him a tiny pinkie hopefully he'll eat it. He didn't seem to have much interest in it...i hope he eats. I'll keep everyone updated on him as time progresses.

When I had my KSB I was told the best way to get them eating is to place him in a brown paper bag with a few small holes so he can breath and a pinkie in the bag. Leave the bag in the tank just incase he somehow gets out. They usually eat overnight.

As far as substrate, dont use sand. I was told to use (I believe) alpha or beta chip as they like to burrow and this is the best substrate to use.

Good luck with him and hope he gets back up to par.

I have him in aspen...mainly because all of my lil guys use it and it's what i had available. What I use for my smaller snakes for feeding in is an old butter container the plastic ones with hole burned through it with lid. I have 4, one hasn't been used so he's in that with the pinkie inside his temp set up.

I'd say try the paper bag thing but I would probably start off with live pinkies, who knows what he was eating when he did eat, looks like a long time ago at that, I might try a pinky rat and mouse to see what he/she likes, but ya, make sure it is rehydrated nicely befor you worry about food. Just IMO. Good luck I hope you have a full recovery.

Id rehydrate that think, then force feed it. its freaking ANAEEEEMIC....

WOW I totally agree with the re-hydrating but to just say force feed it immediately? I'd attempt a few of the other suggestions first, bag, braining, scenting etc... force feeding could do more harm than good depending on it's condition...if it does need force feeding I'd use some thawed out mice tails, they are a lot more gentle on the little guy!

Like gargoyle says, rehydration is a good idea. Force feeding it is a horrible idea since this should only be done as an absolute last resort. Also, I don't think you can visually diagnose anaemia.

Don't force feed it. Just give it access to fresh water, normal temps, and then try feeding a small-than-usual mouse. It'll get back on track. I've seen worse in pet stores.

If he/she had said emaciated then I wouldn't have contested. I don't think snakes can suffer from Anorexia nervosa, well maybe the celebrity ones ;)

well it's been a week since i found the lil guy and he's doing well. He's looking much better than he did a week ago..I'll post pics in the morning of him. He's rehydrated now...i've offered food he's refused so far...i still have hope for the little one. I'll give him a few more days before i offer food again. As soon as he eats I'll let you guys know.

Wish me luck,

Offer live food in a small deli container. Make sure the snake is completely covered by the substrate. It should be hot too, up near 90F
Try offering the live food at night, in total darkness.
