I was wondering if there is any way to "somewhat" accurately identify the local of a rosy from a picture or by its' looks?

If this is possible, here's the photos of the two in question! Both were sold to me as just coastal rosy boas!

Most of the "pros" on the kingsnake forum would tell you that there is absolutely no way to identify the exact locale with any great degree of certainty (there's plenty of overlap and it isn't completely cut and dry). The only way to know for sure is through pedigree records. Most keepers are hesitant to speculate because the person asking will sometimes then refer to the animals as that locale, even though the actual locale is unknown. Most of the time, if the animal is sold as a coastal then they are no longer locale specific because any of that specific information was lost long ago through mixed breeding.

They are very pretty snakes, however, and just because the locale is unknown should not make them any less appealing.

Cheers,
Ryan

Like Ryan said!
The first one appears to be a coastal or have at least coastal content but there is no way to tell the locale . The second pic doesn't look like a coastal at all. From what's visible in the pic it looks like a Mid Baja.

Thanks for the info it's at least pointed me in the right direction. just one more question though. If I were to breed these should I look for ones that are similar colour and pattern as I will never know for sure there local?
